Cooley, Thomas, and Dottery covered literally no one.

Even if the middle wasn't wide open, they still had a wide open WR with Dottery and Thomas 4 yards off of him.

Just a colossal frick up.

Ironically, the ref is exactly where someone needs to be lol

Also, I said the night of it looked like a cover 1 with the safety shaded to the right

I see now it’s a two high look. Why?

I understand the safety shaded to the right, it was trips to the right side.

Just leave the left in man coverage with your best corners

We had 7 defenders covering 5 receivers. Why? Could have had 6 covering 5 and kept Dottery in the middle to cover middle zone and spy QB.

I think this ultimately falls on Dottery.

He notices the middle isn't covered right before the snap, does a little shrug, and then just gets caught in indecision, which ultimately means he does nothing but stand there.

A lot of what we blame on coaching can be attributed to players not doing their jobs.

This is they type of play we miss Weeks bc he would’ve gotten everyone is position

I’m sorry, but this is Baker’s job to insure the players know where to be even if the scheme is absurd. This is just all around bad. It looks like it was designed by someone who has never seen a college football game.

Yes. Ultimately it falls on the coaches, but it is also the players responsibility to understand assignments and communicate.

I've said it countless times: Baker and the defensive staff do a poor job teaching zone coverage concepts.

Really, it's an issue at the college level at most places, but some of the stuff I see from LSU goes beyond that.

This was not a QB draw. The call was to pass, but even then, there's no defensive call that should ever leave that much of the field open in such a compact area. Even then, if you're going to make such a stupid call, the defensive line should be told to hold your gap. I wonder if the dline got the wrong call or if the coaches forgot to adjust it for the dline. None of it makes sense.

There was definitely a communication break down. No way both DL take B gap without thinking they had a safety or LB taking A gap.

pretty sure pwill was supposed to stunt and come to the inside which would have filled the gap in the middle, but he didnt receive that call. watch the play before halftime same defense and thats what he did

I don't know if he is a genius, but he played Lane into using his 1 TO so that we couldn't get this play lined up correctly.

Stein had no intentions of running that first play he showed. He wanted Lane to use his TO and then switch plays to try and draw confusion and no TO for adjustments.

It worked beautifully.

your comment is exactly as one would expect to come out of SF.
Clean it up or post less.

Lane lued and said it was a dl adjustment signal that wasnt hesrd by all. But did blame Baker for the call.

What kind of idiot, DC, HC, would play a cover 2 on top of man, at the 2 yd line? Complete idiotic. So were playing man for the first 1.5 yds then a ssfety deep for 5 yd shite?

Vomolete staff breakdown and the staff falls on Lane. If we had a timeout, and didnt use it, then its even worse.

They are paid for better performance than that

Total communication breakdowns in these situations are inexcusable. I do think in the NIL open transfer era stuff like this is inevitable. Doesn’t matter how talented your transfers are in that moment if they don’t have continuity with each other.

Correction - we had 4 Defenders covering 5 WRs, One WR was wide open and the three defenders with nothing to do just watched to make sure he didn't trip going into the end zone.
