Looking over this schedule and it is nearly perfect for a team coming off a national title with a good bit of player turnover and a new DC and PGC.

Sept. 5 UT-SAN ANTONIO (Great game to celebrate the national title and get our new starters and schemes acclimated
.
Sept. 12 TEXAS (Very thankful we didn't have this series reversed as a road game here would be tough. We will be pumped up for this game as will they and I see us winning comfortably).

Sept. 19 vs. Rice (Weird road game but one we can use for recruiting and to get acclimated to a road environment and to continue working on our schemes)

Sept. 26 OLE MISS (Kiffin will have them pumped up but they have not recruited well the last 4 years and simply do not have the talent level we have. I predict a very dominant win.)

Oct. 3 NICHOLLS STATE (Another game to develop our schemes, get our backups experience and prep for Florida)

Oct. 10 at Florida (Having a cupcake the week before at home is HUGE here. Florida plays a desperate USC team at home the week before and an SEC game is an SEC game. By this game we will have played 5 games and our team should be firing on all cylinders. I simply think Brennan is better than Trask and predict a close win.)

Oct. 17 at Arkansas (PERFECT SEC team to play after Florida. Two SEC road games in a row typically can be a disaster, however with how bad Arkansas is we can expect to grind out an easy win here)

Oct. 24 MISSISSIPPI STATE (State at home is our last game before the bye. Leach does not have his players yet and while they should be competitive we should pull away comfortably in the second half)

Oct. 31 Open Date

Nov. 7 ALABAMA (Like always we both have byes the week before. Both teams will be seasoned and ready by this point and it may come down to who has the most and impactful injuries. I truly believe this is the game that the Death Valley impact comes back to this rivalry and am predicting a close win.)

Nov. 14 SOUTH CAROLINA W(Like the Arkansas game after UF, this is the perfect SEC game to have after Bama. It's at home (unlike the 15 @Arkansas game that we lost) and I believe USC will have 5-6 losses already by this point. This should be a blowout.

Nov. 21 at Auburn (The next two games are where our season will be decided imo. Auburn loses their entire Dline and I think this comes down to Nix vs Brennan. This one can go either way.)

Nov. 28 at Texas A&M (I think our team will be locked and loaded for this one, especially if we are in Playoff contention. I also think we will want a little revenge for the last visit to College Station. Mond is simply not a good QB and I think Brennan outshines him to a hard fought win)

I really see us being 11-1 by the end of the year. That should have us in the SEC title but if not then I think itll have us in the Playoff regardless being the defending national champions. Truly a great time to be a tiger because 2021 should be a fantastic year too.

I agree. However, don't see 11-1. The thing about the early games is it will give the younger players and player positioning, a chance to solidify before the "meat" of the schedule!! This is huge in my opinion.

12-0 to 9-3 are all possible. It is the SEC west and we have UF

How do you see LSU winning this comfortably?

We have better players and coaches with the game at home. The Herman experiment is quickly becoming a failure

@ Florida really intrigues me. Trask was better last year than probably anyone expected..butttt now he has to do it again with a year of tape on him and losing almost all of their weapons. I expect a dub there.

If we can get past Bama even if we slip up in one of those two tough road games to end the season (against teams that will be either the same or a little worse than the ones we beat in 2019) that's still 11 wins.

I think everyone is vastly underestimating Texas.

Sam Ehlinger might be the best QB we face all season.

(I'm not sure how anyone sees this as a 'comfortable win' seeing as how they return a lot of their offense, including a good QB, and LSU has lost many players off a team that Texas took to the wire.)

(...but then, comparing QBs isn't really a good way to pick a winner as they don't play against each other on the field. Think about how many teams LSU has beaten over the last 20 years while having a worse QB than their opponent.)

I would agree with this too. I definitely do NOT think that game is just a given like I've seen a lot of people say Texas brings back a lot not just Ehlinger.

this comes down to Nix vs Brennan.

What are they going to do, arm wrestle at midfield to determine the outcome?

Very simple. Comes down to which QB does better...

It is unusual for LSU to have 2 really tough games in the first 8 and they are TX and FL, both spread apart. But the last 4 are a bitch the way they lineup with AU after AL followed by AR and A&M. But then Pelini’s should be seasoned and Brennan in a comfortable place.

How many times did LSU beat teams with better QBs back in 2011? 13?

LSU beats teams that have better QBs all the time, it's not a matter of who has the better QB.

I like your effort. I do differ with you on your assessment of Texas and Florida. I think it’s likely that both Ehlinger and Trask are better than Brennan. If it turns out that Brennan is actually better than both Ehlinger and Trask then I think LSU has a legitimate shot at making the CFP. Brennan is the key to LSU’s season. If he turns out to be an elite QB LSU will be a very good team once again.

This makes no sense, Texas was close last year and they have a ton of talent coming back

Texas won’t be an easy win they will have the better QB which is always the ultimate advantage

You have to realize that Texas had three straight 7-loss seasons before Herman got there. He didn't take over LSU or Ohio State where talent was stockpiled (though Texas has a lot of resources). This year was an overall disappointment for them, but they did have a ton of injuries on D. Still, they dominated Utah in the bowl for their 3rd straight bowl win where they have been dominant.

And in the season before, their Sugar Bowl win over UGA got them their first top 10 finish since 2009 (they also beat OU during the regular season). So that's still much better than what they were doing. I do expect their defense to be significantly better this year. If not, then he will have issues.

Texas will be very tough - speaking to many of their alumns they put a ton into the game last year and say we broke them with the win - Herman is staking a lot on that game and Ehlinger is still there - their season comes down to us and ou - home field should carry the day but it will be close
