How many games have we struggled offensively?

Doesn’t matter. It’s likely that there is going to be a game or two in Omaha in which our bats aren’t completely on. We’re going to have to figure out how to score runs, especially if it’s a game in which Skenes isn’t starting.

You need to realize that just because you think something doesn’t make it the truth.

You don’t have a better baseball mind than JJ and talk way too much about what needs to happen or throw out useless statement about MLB teams. The Yankees have zero to do with LSU baseball and this team

And what kind of statement is this
quote:

scoring a bunch of runs and winning by six or eight so doesn’t always translate to close wins

Scoring more runs than the other team wins every game , close or not. It doesn’t matter if it’s one or a hundred. A win is good enough

This team lost its first series of the year and have more than enough talent to win it all.

Will that happen? Who knows, but they have as hood of a chance as any team in the country.

You don’t steal bases when you have a lineup like this.

You cannot judge an offense by runs alone. Example. Beat 3 team by 30 points. So what. All it takes is one. They loaded up this year on tshirt offense for the most part.

It means when you show run differential, it is only part of the formula.

What do you think Jay Johnson said post series?

Didn’t pitch worth a shite or play defense. His offense didn’t move runners because one of the “worse pitching staffs” in the SEC who has guys that can throw strikes and execute a few pitches made them look foolish.

LSU plays EXACTLY the same style of baseball as the Yankees and other teams that play on run differential. You know why? Because you win a lot of games that way. It doesn’t translate into championships. That IS ALL ABOUT BALLS AND STRIKES by Johnson’s own words.

Two entirely different teams in two different eras. Offense hasn’t been an issue.

This.

With this lineup, there’s very little reason to take the bats out of the RBI guys’ hands.

That's simply CJJ's MO. Not being critical. It may work. Just pointing out I don't foresee any major changes in approach at this juncture.

We did have a couple of nice squeeze plays vs Bama.

The lineup outside of Crews & White have hit .243 as a team in SEC games.

Other guys certainly could be set up for easier run scorer opportunities thru stealing some bases

You aren’t going to start stealing bases with a lineup made up of predominantly bigger guys. White, Belaso, Jones, Catcher (Trevinski or Millazo). Morgan had bulked up. Dugas is bunged up.
Crews, Thompson and maybe one of the RFers could steal some, but they have to get on some.

People are overreacting to the weekend. Saturday not it wasn’t the stolen base we needed We had the bases loaded and multiple runners on a lot. Today losing 6-1 in the first isn’t time to steal either.

If we get to Omaha and it’s a close game, I think JJ might let Crews or Thompson run, but it will be at the right spot.

Fully agree but I just don't see CJJ doing that.

The last two Sat-Sun combined:

33.1 IP
32 ER
30 BB
5 HBP

That was against two mid-bottom tier SEC offenses. The hitting, as it had cooled, will not be able to outhit pitching lines like this against better teams.

That’s not even taking into account the runners allowed on base & allowed to advance on the bases by bad defense.

Duh, the thread is about stealing bases abd you post pitching stats. WTF???

Start a pitching thread. No doubt that’s a wayyyyyyyyyyy bigger issue than stealing bases.

Really, you have some insightful takes there. I bet most here didn’t know that.

Not one person here is trying to say that these guys should be stealing bases.

The post is about this year as a whole, not just this weekend.

It drives me up and down the walls that CJJ, while he’s been an elite coach in certain areas, just refuses to incorporate an entire facet of offense.

It would be like an OC not using play action, ever.
