Since it seems no one else does it, thanks for being probably LSU’s best pitcher during your career to this point at LSU. Last year, as a freshman, you were LSU’s best starting pitcher. Despite that, the beginning of this year it seems fans wanted everyone but you as a starter. They wanted to put you in the bullpen as a long reliever.

Great game as the Friday starter coming back from your injury! Even then, some knucklehead came on here complaining about your pitching after just 2 innings. And then after the win and your performance, crickets from everyone. You did your job as you normally always do. Thanks for being a valuable Tiger.

Uh, what?

I still want him as a long reliever out of the pen, and that isnt a knock on him.

My point exactly! Have you ever played baseball? Have you ever been a pitcher? I’ve done both. Ask any pitcher at any lever of baseball if he wants to be a starter or a long reliever and it might clear things up for you.

Do you think long relievers are as valuable to a team as a starter? And it’s not like Hilliard has not performed as a starter. Who has done better as a starter at LSU that you would prefer starting over Hilliard?

Hilliard is a beast, however someone mentioned his issues are fatigue. I'd love to see him stay a starter because he has been really good at it. However, whatever is best for the team and his future pro career

have you seen the way they get paid now, obviously someone thinks that. Plus kids that are signed for the pen end up in the majors sooner than those starters it seems

I upvoted you, and I really like Hilliard. His place, though, is in the pen for long weekend relief. He’s starting because he’s our best option, and kudos to him for doing a great job.

If, and when, Cole Henry and Jaden Hill come back Hilliard will be back where he belongs - long relief and emergency starts. And I will be very confidant each time he is put in the game.

I have and still play baseball, not sure how that qualifies either one of our points any more or less.
Im sure he wants to be a starter, but if we have better options....then we have better options.
Who has done better as a starter that i would prefer? Easily jaden hill and cole henry. Hilliard is a good pitcher, but id prefer either of those guys starting.

Couldn’t care when or where he pitches. We need W’s in the w/l column.

He is picking them up as a starter so leave him there

Is he? We won Thursday with our receiver pitching as many innings as our starter did.

But I like Hilliard. He’s been a good pitcher for LSU for two years now.

Dunn\LSU is very fortunate to have Hilliard. He does have a specific role and I want LSU to win every game, but not at the expense of his career.
Dunn\Pawlie already are leading the nation with pitcher injuries!
Treat the kid right, dumb azzes.

Sometimes they are more important than the starters. Just depends on how much your starter gives you. It goes both ways though. That being said I like Hilliard as a starter and a relief guy. He’s good in both spots.

An 85 mph fastball and 2 pitches usually doesnt make a dominant starter, but he does well with the tools he has.

I'd like to see him as an opener for someone.

He has an 88+ mile an hour fast ball and throws different grips on his fastball that have a ton of movement as well as the best curveball in the SEC. At the same time he will be best served as a long reliever and emergency starter. When he is getting his curve over for strikes he can be dominant but when he struggles he becomes hittable.

On this team.....absolutely.

Also in many situations in the post season the answer is yes.

That’s actually not correct. But good try.
