What is wrong with calling a spade a spade? With the way we pitched and played defense for the first two games, We are very lucky to have a great draw.

The OP is 100% spot on. We played like shite; nothing wrong with saying that.

Happy to be 2-0 & hopefully we win tonight & re-group for the supers.

Our fan base is weird though. If our football team plays like shite but beats a quality opponent in the process, no one is happy.

If our baseball team plays like shite but wins, then they are exempt from any criticism whatsoever.

That's BS,this team deserves some criticism. It's one thing to struggle against superior teams but, they are playing like an unprepared ball club versus inferior opponents.

Thanks Zealot, I think too many posters read a negative post and assume that the OP is ready to jump off of a cliff. I guess with some of the posts made around this place, I can understand that. But here's a couple of points:

1) I haven't made a single comment about the future of this team. I have not given up.
2) This team has pitched poorly at times, and played poor defense through the first two regional games.
3) This regional is very weak. Some regionals have teams have teams like Arizona St, Oklahoma, Miami, and South Alabama to deal with. If LSU makes 5 errors and strands 15 runners against any of those teams, we lose. We have played the weakest team in the field of 64, and a 3 seed without their ace.
4) I gave an explanation for why LSU has not been sharp this week, and very few responses in this thread even discussed that. Most responses were like the one poster that suggested I commit suicide for stating the obvious.

This team has not looked sharp is right. They made a lot of errors last night, very uncharacteristic of them. I think sometimes they take teams too lightly, and think they just have to show up to win. Also, they seem to relax more with Nola pitching. Nola was not as sharp as usual at the beginning of the game, but the errors in the field certainly did not help. Luckily, Nola came back and did what he does best. I hope they were chewed out for their performance, and come back more focused tonight. We should run away with this if they do. And no, I am not a negatiger, just a realistic fan.

Ugh, please...

We scored 11 runs in the first game and 8 runs last night. Eades had one bad start, big deal. Last night, it seemed Bregman and Ibarra forgot their gloves in the first inning, but after that, it was 8 innings of shutout baseball.

We're 2-0 and going to make it to Super Regionals unscathed. Get over it.

Whether we played like shite or played better than every other team in the country, the bottom line is this team could have played so much better. Compared to the way the team has played the rest of the year, they played horrible. However, LSU on its worst day is probably better than 90% of the teams out there.

However, take away the first inning errors, yesterday's game would have been just another near blowout. And, it was't just the first inning. 5 errors may be sick, but there were a lot of other mistakes. The fly to center that they miscommunicated again and couldn't catch, the botched double play in the ninth, and a few others. Heck, even Nola was having some trouble finding the zone in the middle innings. Realistically, LSU could have won that game 16-0 if they played like we've seen them this year.

I have no idea why the op is getting shite on. We haven't played up to our potential in these two games and its obvious. Not sure why our overall record exempts someone from stating that we have played a subpar two games. This board makes no sense sometimes.

Hopefully we beat the shite out of whoever and get on a roll for the supers. Maybe these two games are what we need to spark us.

Well you can't bet your arse if this type of performance continues they won't make it past the Supers.

I'm really enjoying this Tourney, Jackson State is a terrible team, they don't pitch well, and their infield play is no fluke, they are really bad. Sam Houston earned their way to the Regional, solid team. I don't know much about the Cajuns, except they go on hitting binges. If we face them and pitch well, I don't think we will have any problems. Lack of focus, the Cody Glenn experience, the collision all played a part in the teams struggles. I'm just grateful that the team didn't have to hear the color annalist, that would have ended our season. We are sitting pretty, ULL and SHS will be very low in pitching depth and we really can't play any worse than these 2 games.

No use choupique, I think everyone would rather ignore how bad we've played than discussing it

I agree we played very bad, I'm just not sure if the SEC Tourney had anything to do with it.

This is the worst LSU has played all year but I'm not too worried about it and I think it has precisely nothing to do with the SEC tourney. Look, this is a pretty weak regional field, and LSU just has lost focus taking the field too lightly. And the team is winning, so I'm not going to panic over wins.

But the pitching has been lousy and the defense worse. And this team has thrived on pitching and defense all season long. I mean, five f'n errors? That's just a total loss of focus. We're beating ourselves.

McCune was the one guy outside of Nola and Cotton who has shown up this weekend on the mound. He really came through. I like that bench guys are raising their game to pick up the slack.

They scored 19 runs in 2 days. It should have been about 30. Jackson State's pitchers couldn't hit 80 on the radar gun and Sam Houston's pitchers (with the exception of the first relief pitcher last night) couldn't find the strike zone--against LSU or ULL. They've hit like 7 hitters in 2 days.

That lousy pitching didn't give up an earned run last night in our win.

Honestly think they are looking ahead to the supers. Team looks like they are sleep walking. They look like they are treating these games like mid week, pre SEC.

Yes you are right we are in a weak regional, but we have earned it.

That's obviously not good enough for some of the baseball experts on The Rant.

Seriously though, please STFU.
