With all of the above said.....
Wonder if White could get some time as a goalline back?
That seems to be one area where Guice is somewhat limited.
This isn't some crazy Holiday to DE idea since he actually played RB and was recruited as such. Would he be better than Williams, Brosette and Ducre?

Actually, Les wanted him on offense, at RB. I remember it quite well. The defensive staff was somehow able to convince Les that he was much more needed on the other side of the ball.
Devin had just gotten himself into trouble off the field right before NSD, and LSU never let up for one second on him, while other schools took a brief pause. LSU's loyalty to his offer is ultimately what made his choice easy. And it bought LSU some sway with convincing him that it's just as fun to deliver punishment as a defender, as it is to do it as a ball carrier. I still think he would have been a beast at RB, but just better at LB.

quote:Nope you're wrong. What you're claiming is counter to what's on the public record. Are you going to tell us you had "inside information" or you were a fly on the wall during discussions amongst the coaching staff?
ummm yeah I believe it is right. LSU had no intentions at playing him at RB.
quote:That's true, but it still doesn't change the fact it's public knowledge that LSU recruited him for RB.
LSU needed him at LB and white knew that when he was being recruited by LSU.

And if he had chosen to go to another school and play RB like he initially wanted to? He had the offers.
In hindsight, White was a HUGE recruiting win
Correct. He could be in the running back rotation at Alabama right now. Instead he is going to have a killer career for us at linebacker.

LSU recruited him at RB the same way they recruited Shepard at QB.

He had to be convinced to play lb. He wanted to be recruited to play rb.
When he gets to the NFL, he will appreciate it more.

He was recruited as a LBer the whole time. He never switched because he started out as s LBer as soon as he got to LSU.
That is incorrect. He was recruited as a RB and switched to LB in the spring

Maybe O will use him in the way Jabril Peppers got used. ESPN will be in BR kissing their asses

I don't know what kind of conversation Shepard had w/ Miles, but OTOH, I trust to be honest the asst coach who told me of Devin's conversation w/ Miles. Nevertheless, there are significant s difference in the two situations: there were doubts whether Shepard had the skill set to be an SEC caliber QB so might need to be moved to another position; no one questioned whether Devin could be a RB, but whether WHERE his talents best suited the team.

White, Divinity, Alexander, and Key as your 4 LBs if we run a 3-4... I don't hate that
Rashan Thorton, Andre Anthony, and Corey Thompson may have a say in that
