Their starting RB was a true Freshman

No, it wasn't. Their starting RB was a transfer and senior

Isnt Hermans record something ridiculous when his team is the underdog? Something like a 90% winning percentage I think

I have no idea what it is overall. But I think his time a Texas has probably countered that number quite a bit.

Taking a look at their schedule on ESPN. The opponent's team rankings were for that game. I doubt USC was highly ranked at the end of either season. But since these teams were ranked it is probable that they were favored.

2017 Texas losses and games against ranked opponents:

Maryland L51-41

4 USC L27-24 2OT

12 Oklahoma L29-24

10 Oklahoma State L13-10 OT

8 TCU L24-7

Texas Tech L27-23

In 2017 Texas went 0-4 against ranked (possibly favored) teams. I doubt the Kansas, K-States, Baylors, Iowa St's, Maryland and Tulsa's would have been favored over Texas but I guess it is possible and would have made the 0-4 better.

2018 Texas losses and games against ranked opponents:

Maryland L34-29

22 USC W37-14

17 TCU W31-16

7 Oklahoma W48-45

Oklahoma State L38-35

13 West Virginia L42-41

5 Oklahoma L39-27

5 Georgia W28-21

For 2018 Texas finished #9 in both polls. I'm not sure what they were when they played these teams but will assume the ranked teams were all favored over UT. That would make their record 4-2 against ranked (possibly favored) teams. Again they could have been dogs to Kansas, K-state, Iowa St. So the 4-2 may even be better.

But at 0-4 for 2017 and 4-2 for 2018 give or take a few games either way, it is a far cry from a 90% win percentage as a dog.

Herman hasn't recruited scrubs. And he's done well with developing who he inherited. Their defense has been razed but their offense will score some points on us.

We should win but I'm not about to get cocky. Texas will be tough, especially at home.

Loses 8/11 defensive starters.

Loses 3/5 starting offensive linemen.

Loses starting tailback.

We should win by two TD's
every college team loses production. It's all about having quality replacements.

Texas has had Top 3 recruiting classes the last two years. And they have a very good QB returning.

You're nuts if you think we'll crush them, especially in Austin.

You obviously haven’t watched much college football before. True road game against a school coming in with a lot of momentum from last year. They’ll be fired up to prove they belong. We’ll have our work cut out for us.

Texas 2019 is a mirror image of LSU 2018, but...

They still have the great Sam Ehlinger, and they have the coach Herman who was second only to the legendary Jimbo Fisher on most LSU fans' wish lists.

correct.

I always get a chuckle when people say a team loses a lot of production. That's what recruiting is for, and Texas has had Top 3 classes the last two years. And their very good QB is returning, they handled UGA easily in the Sugar Bowl, and they're at home.

Anyone who thinks we'll blow doors in Austin is just plain nuts.

It's oversimplified thinking.

Is losing production a bad thing if you have better players replacing them? I think it'd be a mistake to think we're just going to walk over them because they replaced starters. They're replacing them with a lot of players from the #3 recruiting class a a couple of years back.

How do they have momentum? They finished with less wins than LSU, they also have much less returning talent, and we all now that you can't expect a coach to do diddly squat with a team that isn't stacked with returning talent. Again, by all rights this game should be a beatdown for LSU.

unless they have some monster defensive players that were sitting on the bench last year....lsu should win by a couple possessions. im calling for a 9-14 point win.

the funny thing is watching people claim our talent in 2018 held back our offense and then watch them tout returning players as reasons the offense will be good in 2019.

you know who im talking about....

I am not concerned with who they lost. Only concerned with who we will be playing against this coming season.

My research shows that current players have a larger impact on a team then players that have left the team.
