Here’s what I do (live in Dallas). Fly in to New Orleans on Wednesday night. Stay there Wednesday and Thursday night. Head to BTR after late breakfast on Friday. Check in to hotel off Bluebonnet & I-10 or Siegen & I-10. Dinner at any of the well-known spots in BTR. Head in for the game on Saturday. Drive back to MSY on Sunday to fly out.
Sober now, but when I drank, I wouldn’t ever drink on game day bc the thought of being drunk in the middle of a 100000+ people in a hot stadium grossed me out.

Stadium atmosphere is a shell of what it was in 2004. It’s just a big concert like any stadium in the world. That electric atmosphere we had in 2004 is long gond

We stay in Gonzales which is far enough out of BR to escape the inflated prices but close enough to drive to and from the game. There are many hotels there around the Tanger outlet mall. Park where you can use Burbank to Highland to I-10 after the game to get back to Gonzales.

Having said that, it's not a secret that the biggest difference is the constant PA music. In the past, we would cheer. Now there's non stop music which almost totally kills the crowd participation during the breaks. But I'm guessing that's what the kids want so, there it is. I do think you're right that the kids want the game to be a party concert so they love the party dance music instead of cheering school cheers like we used to. Other than that, if the team is competitive and it's a big game, yeah tiger stadium is still lit and second to none.
Also, with the playoffs, I'm curious to see if that dilutes the crowds since the regular season is more performative or if that just raises the stakes of every game.
All things being equal, tiger stadium games are still the pinnacle of cfb

I imagine the Texas game will have a very good atmosphere. Especially if we’re in the running to get into the playoffs. I feel like this is a matchup that LSU and Texas fans have been waiting a long time for.
