Hey guys,

I've not been to a game since 2004, and coming back for the Texas game on 14th of November and bringing 2 of my brit friends and my 18 year old who loves football and has only ever seen an NFL game in London...

Anyway, we have a tailgate invite sorted, but trying to figure out the best place to stay in the night...all the hotels around the stadium are fully booked, but there are some with availability out by the interstate...any idea how we'd get back out there after the game though?

As long as it’s not the Motel 6, LaQuinta, or Trident Inn on Reiger Road, any other hotel on Siegen is good to go.

The interstate is now far at all from campus. If you are going to be drinking heavily I would Uber to and from the game. Getting there will be a piece of cake, as long as you arrive early enough.

Leaving will be an absolute nightmare. Multiple that nightmare times 500 if you don't know where you are going, and have been drinking all day. Getting an Uber immediately after the game will be difficult, so plan to go to Chimes or walk ons, or back to some tailgating after the game for a while. Then you will be able to Uber back.

And please please please come back and share your experience with us. We get 20 of these threads per year asking for advice, but never get to hear afterwards what you thought.

After game hangout at one of several establishments around Chimes/ Highland and get even more drinks on-board. Give it time for traffic to clear ( maybe 2-3 hrs), the Ubering will be easier

Deffo will update you…been around this site for years, and didn’t miss a home game as a student between 1996-2001, excited to share it with my son.

If you're not driving plan to stay and hangout at a tailgate or bars for a few hours after the game. Ubers can't really get to campus to pick you up until contraflow ends.
Also check airbnb

You should stay downtown (lots of nice hotels) and take the DT shuttle to and from the game

I would stay in New Orleans and commute.
Your friends from England will be better off doing that. The football game in Baton Rouge will certainly be the most exciting thing you can do that day, otherwise New Orleans will be the place for the rest of the vacation.
