Extremely poor leadership and basic character. Huge problem in today's world. A man is nothing if he cannot keep his word.

This isn't about being bitter he isnt playing anymore ofcourse I am but this season is practically lost anyway to us fans.

But those younger players looked up to him and he just quit? pathetic. He looks like an idiot holding a meeting trying to like prior Tigers and then quitting before our biggest rival. Devin White held a players only meeting and lit a fire for the team in 2018. While Dwhite forgoed his senior year but in the offseason. I have no problem with players opting out before the season starts. But quitting on your teammates midseason during these tumultuous times shows who he really is. He has no spine. Going got tough and Terrace quit is the bottom line. Plus if he lights up Surtain against bama his draft stock goes through the roof. Doestn even have to make catches but on film if he breaks away. Dont even understand how its a business decision when he is not a forsure 1st rounder, but he couldve been playing against elite end of the year teams such as Bama and Florida.

Terrace Marshall is not a leader. I got the feeling that he knew “team leader” was one glaring thing missing from his resume, and he set out to rectify that by calling that team meeting. It backfired on him. Not only is he not a leader, but he exposed himself as a quitter, a hypocrite, and unreliable, as well.

Because at the beginning of the season we had a starting qb who had been in the system multiple years and learned from the literal GOAT. When he went down, TM gave the backups a shot against inferior opponents and it just wasn't there.

In other words, things got tough. Boo. Hoo.

I'm pretty sure he saw the season was done and it was time to start building for next year and give the returning player more playing time. At that point, he knew it was time for him to move on.

I do have a problem with someone who says it’s all about the team and focus (not Number #1) and then jumping ship shortly thereafter.

He changed his mind. That's all. He had more time to take in all of the circumstances and he realized that playing any further for LSU would not serve his own interests, and would hardly make a difference WRT where LSU will be ranked at the end of the season.

Why the change after two weeks? Somebody had a talk with him, I guess. Somebody talked him into quitting, maybe a Sports Agent.

He conducted a classic "Risk-Benefit" analysis and decided that it would be illogical to continue his CFB career.

And there is the problem with the sport. A scholarship is a contract to provide a service for an agreed compensation (tuition, room/board, etc) and these kids are walking away when it's their turn to execute.

They should be held legally liable for the cost of the school year if they 'opt out'. LSU did it's part, why isn't the recipient obligated to fulfill it's half of the arrangement ?

"Since a kid, to play in the NFL and to retire my parents has been my #1 mission," Marshall wrote. "After careful consideration but with faith, I have decided to declare for the 2021 NFL Draft".

FYI-Terrace's Dad has been shopping for an agent all Fall (and earlier). He made it known he only wanted a BLACK agent. Once he decided on his agent, he accepted a six -figure payment from said agent. Which is what facilitated a mid-season "I'm done". Basically the same as Chase. Once these guys get PAID they are usually done. Guys like Burrow who finish A before moving on to B are becoming more rare. Especially when the parents have their hands out. EVERY high-profile "Opt Out" at LSU has ALREADY been advanced a lot of money.

questions is why is he just now deciding to opt out?

I think that his plan all along was to opt out when the season was supposed to end. Of this were a regular year, I think A&M was his last game regardless.

Its the only reason I see him opting out now.

Maybe he didn’t see a change in the team after his talk

I sure have seen a difference. Matter of fact a complete flip flop. The defense are the guys seeming to play with heart and effort now.
Now the offense is lagging dramatically.
Was the other way around.

You don't see guys like Trevor Lawrence "opting out". He's won a national championship, played for another, and is likely to play for one this year so he has every reason to sit out and prepare for the draft. But instead he embraces his role as the leader of the team and understands the impact his absence would have to the team.
