Haven't watched them much this year
-I know their defensive line is stout
-What about their skill players? Comparable to Florida's?
-Bo Nix, how did he play against Florida?

Like a deer in headlights. We get pressure, he will fold. LSU should win by a large margin.

Defense is about like Florida but with weaker secondary. Offense came alive against a weak Arkansas last week, but Nix looks like a true freshmen. He seems to make those types of mistakes on occasion. I would suggest on paper, LSU has the advantage across the board especially if we get Marshall back, but the D has to show up better than they did against Florida.

The front 7 is better than Florida's despite what everyone else is saying. This will be the best front 7 we face this year.
Secondary is weak.
QB is young and throws the ball around carelessly at times.
They have some serious speed in skills positions though.

They will try to play keep away from our offense. They have one pretty good receiver and then they have one guy that’s probably the fastest guy in the SEC that they run jet sweeps with. Other than that, their offense isn’t anything special. Same gimmicky bullshite Malzahn has always run.
Their defense is very good. But it’s very good because of their Iine. If we can figure out a way to deal with their line I think we’ll be fine.
I would imagine a 35-17 score.
But it’s supposed to be wet Saturday so it could get sloppy.

The DL is probably the best in the SEC. Huge men who can move. They don't need to blitz to pressure the QB. Man for man the secondary is probably isn't as good as UF's, but every secondary is "better" when the DL can pressure the QB. LSU's OL has been great this year. They'll need to play their two best games vs. AU and Bama.
They have a Freshman QB who is very talented, but inconsistent. He can run, but he's not Newton or Marshall. Can make some great throws, but also some really bad ones. Receivers are athletic and have a good mix of size and speed. They are without their bellcow RB, and will have to do it by committee. No superstars at RB. At his core Malzahn wants to be a power running team. May or may not be able to do that vs. LSU. Still, he's one of the best at scheming 3-4 plays a game that could be huge gainers for the offense. Can the freshman QB execute?

The only thing you need to know is Derrick Brown, Derrick Brown And Derrick Brown. If the o-line can stop him we win the game.

Aub is a streaky team not consistent, don’t want them getting hot. LSU needs to show up early, Aub’s Dline is one of the best, secondary suspect.

Their entire team is built around their OL and DL - like Bama and LSU used to be.

Yes, probably a smarter, more effective QB and we'll see better backs than Florida trotted out. On the backside of the defense, certainly Florida's corners are slightly better, but Auburn's safety tandem of Dinson and Thomas are as good as any in the conference and their linebackers play very well as a unit, particularly against the run.
They are vulnerable to the pass. We match up well against them, as long as we can protect the QB.

Bo Nix, how did he play against Florida?
Not great.

Best defensive front we will see. They will try to run the ball on us. Limiting the mistakes for Nix and control the clock.

They have the best defensive front 7 we will see all year,
As long as Joe gets the ball out of his hands quick, we will be unstoppable

Auburn fan’s perspective (TL;DR at the bottom)
Defense:
Great front 7. Very disruptive. DL has had 5 SEC player of the week nods in 7 games, split between Davidson and Brown.
Weakness of the DL is pass rush, particularly on the edge. Davidson has done most of his best work against weaker opponents. Sacks are generally split between DL and LB/DBs on blitzes.
LBs are younger than in the past. Owen Pappoe has been good early but only a freshman. Britt is the defense’s QB. He seems to struggle covering TEs
Secondary is experienced and talented but they’ve had some serious coverage busts all season. Burrow will find those. Noah igbinoghene is good for a PI or two, I’m guessing. Secondary hasn’t been tested for the most part. Oregon was down their whole WR corps
Good defense overall but prone to mistakes in the secondary. DL depth is thin and could be problematic down the stretch in a tight game.
Offense:
- Runningback is unresolved with Boobee Whitlow out. Gus played the whole depth chart against Arkansas. Guessing Kam Martin and DJ williams get the most snaps. Kam is a straight line runner and DJ is a more rounded back but he’s a freshman. Your guess is as good as mine on how they’ll play.
- Bo Nix has been inconsistent. He doesn’t make a lot of mistakes (3 INTs against UF, 2 in the other 6 games) but he throws the ball away quite often. Still has the itch to roll out and throw which he’s been pretty terrible at. Predictably, he’s good with some time to make his reads.
- OL has struggled early in games to establish the run game. They’re decent in pass protection but nothing to write home about. Auburn pulls guards heavily to generate power in the run which has led to some TFLs lately.
- WR is tough to peg. Arkansas was the first game that we saw Schwartz and Seth Williams on the field at the same time. That was a welcome development as they’re Bo’s primary targets. Seth is a 50/50 guy and Schwartz is a burner. The third receiver could be anyone.
Kicker is Carlson. Money from 45 or shorter. Bad on anything longer than that. He has a ton of leg but just hasn’t gotten it dialed in from long range.
I have the game at 28-19, LSU. Hoping for no injuries
TL;DR
- Good defense overall but prone to mistakes in the secondary. DL depth is thin and could be problematic down the stretch in a tight game.
- Offense has no identity but benefits from short fields. Might be figuring out something at WR. Run game struggles early. Often very bad for long stretches
- Kicker is good from 45 or shorter

Sorry, I fat thumbed a down vote on the best and most pertinent post I’ve read today.

I like our chances beating that D-line by getting the ball out quick like we have very well when needed, and then when we got the front 7 on their heels a bit, pound the rock.

Auburn is ranked #13 in the 247 Team Talent Composite. Florida is #15, LSU is #5. They have recruited well and have a lot of talent on their team. That said, six of their top 10 recruits are freshmen - including 5* QB Bo Nix.
LSU’s defense matches up well with their offense. Gus will likely try to get the running game humming to limit turnovers and chew clock. The problem for them is that LSU has the #2 rushing defense in the SEC. We have enough speed on the edge to blow up jet sweeps, and I don’t think they’re deep enough at WR to cause problems for our secondary.
It seems to me that the biggest threats to LSU’s defense are teams who can attack us with multiple WR’s and force bad matchups over the middle. Auburn almost seems like the opposite. If we force Nix to throw over the middle I think we will see turnovers, which will kill Auburn.

With Whitlow hurt I expect a lot of jet sweeps and designed QB runs. That's likely the key to stop their offense.
Derick Brown is a beast on their DL. I would say he's almost Quinnen Williams level good. If we play our regular offense and have Charles and Marshall back we win by 10+ barring major mistakes. I think Auburn's DL will give us trouble, but I feel confident Brady/SE can adjust and the offense will still be very effective.
