I was told we had more kickers than linebackers though and that that group sucked until Ed got here.

The depth sucked, sure, and so did the coaches who waited to start studs like Debo and Beckwith.

He’s top 10 for sure. He is the modern day backer. Fast, fast, fast

Thanks for playin welter over Kwon and Debo, chief.

Can’t wait to kick his fatass again this year. New colors, same shitty coach.

Welter started at MLB over Beckwith for a whole year and I could never understand why when the talent gap was plain as day when they were on the field.

He’s been amazing. Definitley one of the best ILB’s in the game. He’s probably the most athletic linebacker in the league.

I think our whole fan base shared this same thought.

I actually didn’t have much of a problem with Welter starting over Beckwith in 2013. 2014 was another thing.

In 2013 I had more of an issue with Chief not finding a good way to start a Barrow/ Kwon/ Debo lineup. That group coulda wreaked some havoc.

Hard to believe fact: LSU went 20 years with only 1 lb drafted. The two coaches who failed to recruit a drafted lb were Hallman and Saban.

Well, both Debo and Beckwith were raw and not nearly as good early in their careers. Both made plays early in their careers, but also made tons of mistakes. Debo his senior year was a complete linebacker. The improvements he made were drastic. Chavis had some flaws, but he was a good coordinator and linebacker coach. I'll take Aranda every day of the week, but Chavis is still a top 20 DC.
