I just don’t think we have the dudes, Les. Position players-wise, at least. Will probably be the worst offensive and defensive team Jay has had here. Doesn’t mean the pitching can’t be great and the offense can’t go on a late season heater and run off a bunch and make it to Omaha, but I think this team’s ceiling—on offense and defense—is relatively low. Pitching will have to carry it.

Some can... but this team doesn't seem to be in any rush to do so.

I’ll take someone’s season tickets. At a losers discount that it

And he’s in the 9 hole while Jay experiments with Reaves in the 3 spot smh
My only complaint so far honestly. Pitching can carry this team against anyone in a 3 game series… The games we’ve lost have been Johnny Wholestaff and kids like Harden that arnt starters. The tinkering will soon get it figured out

They do, Carl. He just has tinkered a lot of has not found the right fit. Certain guys are being granted long leashes to see if they are right or not,
It won’t be electric but they have the pieces to be above average most nights

Yeah, Reaves in 3 hole, Pearson playing positions, and Harden being allowed to K 3 times
Tinkering for sure. He’s not gonna let them be complacent b/c they won it all last year
Trying to repeat is the absolute hardest task.
He’ll put them in the best position to win when it counts, then it’s still baseball, but I like this roster's chances

Probably not cooked but what I do know is our young arms are not good at all
Define "young". We have only pitched 3 true freshmen. Ricken looks good. Paz has great stuff, but he's coming off TJ and struggling with locating, which isn't uncommon. Theophilus has been fine in his 2 outings.
If you are including sophomores in that group of "young", 3 of the 6 have a sub 3.00 ERA.

You a doctor doing DNA testing or just another blow hard on Tigerdroppings? Oh, you don't have to answer

LSU will end up in the top 10 or better by the end of the year.
UL went closer + bullpen (just like LSU) for thr first 6 innings. Cajuns busted it open and turned the ball over to a freshman starter to close out a very valuable RPI win.
Call it the super bowl or world series all you want.. We didnt throw 5 straight starters or something. We made less mistakes and had more clutch hits.

Until we lose with Evans, Moore or Schmidt then worry
Jesus christ you people are insufferable
Stanfield is out once he gets back I expect an offensive improvement.
This is a CWS caliber team stop being pussies.

They do, Carl.
Do they really, though? And I’m talking almost strictly about position players. I think the pitching is going to wind up being really good. And it will likely have to be.

I don’t know that there is going to be “the right fit.” He’ll find “the best fit” possible with what he has, and we’ll be good, maybe even very good. And we’ll be good enough to make a run to Omaha. But we could also not get out of a regional.
Outfield—once Stanny gets back, we’ll have the exact same OF we had last year. I think switching him and Curiel is probably a slight upgrade defensively, because Curiel gets better jumps on balls. I was surprised he didn’t get to that one last night. Offensively, I think there’s a slight upgrade there, too, just with a year of development. I think it’s pretty clear Jake Brown has taken a step up, but, and I know it’s a tiny sample size, but his splits against lefties is still something that concerns me. And he has no real protection. In SEC play, I think he’s gonna see a ton of left-handed bullpen arms at the back end of games and/or just get pitched around. Curiel is going to be Curiel, but I don’t think he made the huge jump we all expected. He was probably slowed a bit by injury in the offseason. He’ll be really good-great, may lead the SEC or country in doubles. But who’s gonna drive him in consistently? And how Stanny comes back offensively from a hand injury is still yet to be seen.
On the infield, we are significantly worse at every position defensively, most notably catcher, except at SS, where Milam is a push. And significantly worse offensively everywhere except maybe Carraway being better than Braswell. But Braswell had seen a ton of SEC pitching. Carraway hasn’t, and there’s just something about his stance and swing—like it’s stiff and robotic—that I’m not sure is going to play in the SEC until I actually see it.
I’m not doom and gloom at all. I love watching baseball teams grow over a season. We will be good and capable of going on a late season run and doing damage. But there’s less room for error than with Jay’s previous teams. There’s no Bear or Frey that can carry us with 2-homer 5-6 RBI game where the rest of the team doesn’t hit. We’re gonna have to rely on stringing more hits together.

Just LSU?
Or does that apply to the opposition as well? Shudder!

Here we go again and again. First basketball and now baseball. Why don’t you find another school to cheer for.

You keep comparing to last years team. They aren’t as good last year but that doesn’t mean they don’t have dudes
He’s started 14 different players and the lineups have varied tremendously game to game, both batting order and defensively. Just hard to build a rhythm that way with a lot of new starters and transfers.
Continuity helps build confidence which in turn promotes winning.

Interesting way to phrase this. I don't think the problem is the arms, I think it's that they don't know how to pitch yet
