TCU Outfielder dropping trinket on filed

I watched some of the TCU game Sunday at a restaurant that had no volume on the TV. I noticed that the outfielder kept dropping something every time he caught the ball, or made a play on the ball. What was it, and why was he doing it?

he was "dropping the mic" every time he made a play. it was a little distracting at first
