First off, great game/great win by LSU. Both teams came to play but LSU is inarguably the better team. Observations from the opposite sideline:
- Burrows was the man. Receivers did the work to get open, but he almost always found them (many times while facing pressure) and always put it on the money.

- The cramps thing was odd. I see the statement on here that the team opted not to IV at halftime 'as they normally do'. Why in sweet Jesus' name would you pick a game like this to not do that even though it is 'normal'? It could easily have cost LSU the game under slightly different circumstances.

- Our DBs are young/inexperienced and were burned something awful. I presume your receivers are good. I can't say how much of their success should be credited to each party. I will be interested to see how they do against better corners.

- Ehlinger was off on the long ball last night, which is not unusual, unfortunately. I really like him, but it just isn't his best area. To win that game, we really needed him to be on the money more of the time deep. Too many times the receivers had to slow-up or were overthrown and LSU corners were too good for that.

- I am surprised our offense could sustain as many long drives as they did. I am interested to see if our O-line is that much improved from last year or if it was a fluke of the heat/up-for-the-game effect/whatever. I would love to credit our power offense, but it could be a concern for LSU, as well.

- Damn, that onside kick almost recovery could have been the highlight of the week!

- We miss Lil' Jordan Humphrey, who is currently on the scout team for the Saints, I think. I know he is slow as hell, but he is a gamer, get him playing. If not, could we have him back?

PS I actually thought the officiating was about as good as it gets in college. Both roughing the QBs could have been called or not called, but nothing unreasonable. Receivers/backs were allowed the right amount of contact. All the reviews seem to be correct. There was one LSU reception that looked like it hit the ground, but LSU snapped it too quick for review (not officiating fault, really). And I have never seen a forum where both fan bases don't have people screaming about 'missed holding calls everywhere!'

That was a damn war that I was really glad to see end. I'm with you on the hydration. WHY would they not do that? I bet it never happens again.

Your team gave us all we wanted to handle. Hell of a game.

You hit the nail on the head by saying both teams came to play.

The game was much more physical than I anticipated.

Was happy to escape with the W

Can’t disagree with anything you wrote. The IV thing is weird to me too. I guess a trainer can’t force a player to take one but why would the players not want one? Maybe they’re not used to dry heat

I guess LSU defense was content to bottle him up from running and make him pass. He sure looked good at passing to me. Maybe not the deep ball but he was money with everything else.

I really think Texas is the best offense LSU will see this year outside of maybe Bama. Bc damn our defense was shredded.

I was impressed with Texas. I didn’t give you guys nearly enough credit and you showed a lot last night.

Never thought our defense would be worked like that. You guys are legit.

That said, thankfully we were ready and I don’t know if anyone beats us last night with the way LSU executed.

I don’t understand the cramps whining. Texas wasn’t trying to go fast. Faking injury is only an issue when teams are trying to snap the ball within 10 seconds.

Ehlinger was “off” because he was under duress.

The game should not have been as close as it was.

Not whining at all! I think it helped UT, it just seemed like an incredibly odd mistake for the LSU staff to make.

Oddly, I though he threw well under pressure. Some of his long throws he had very little, though. LSU made a good decision to contain him as opposed to blitzing, but he could have made LSU pay a few times and didn't

Your left tackle was holding Chaisson on nearly every play. Maybe they were letting the same thing go the other way. When we have the ball I just don't watch the line. I realize holding can be called on every play, but this was some MMA type shite. Chaisson was just getting taken down. But, that's the game sometimes and it's not a complaint, only an observation. Other than that though I agree officiating was great.

Great thoughts and thanks for sharing.

I am curious...it seemed as if a lot of the "cramps" were other injuries as well. Most of the time play was stopped for a player on the field, they didn't come back in the next play, they were out for several plays if not the rest of the series and next. But, the ones that were cramps are definitely frustrating...and sadly every team does it, even UT.

I think UT outplayed LSU in the first quarter but just shot themselves in the foot.

LSU won the 2nd quarter and went to the locker room hyped...UT seemed to be dejected.

The 2nd half was a heavy-weight battle! Both teams came out swinging, trading punches and went toe-to-toe until the final whistle. The second half was a draw IMO. It was a great game...and both teams will be better next year in Death Valley!

Geaux Tigers!

So they are wrapping up better this year? They were allowed to hold just like Bama. They really only started getting called when they had take downs.

They took 2 men down on the PI call in the end zone, then took one guy down on the last touchdown.

Well that’s just dumb. Texas went to toe to toe with us all night. Did you forget they dropped s sure TD pass?

I totally agree. I’ve always been told that a referee has done his job when you don’t notice him. The calls that were made were straight forward, even on both sides, and consistent.

Plenty of TX fans are whining about it and the media asked Herman about it.

I thought Ehlinger played great and threw some great balls, but I don’t think he could’ve improved his passing given the circumstances.

I really hope Texas wins out.

Why? Because of some of our nimrod fans predicting a blow out?

I agree with most everything you said. This is a sidebar:

Instead of constantly blaring hip-hop crap, would the venue be made more authentic and unique by playing Willie, REK, Jerry Jeff, etc. during breaks. Even let your band play? Y’all ’ Are turning your game day experience into an NBA game.
