I don’t know if it’s been mentioned but I was so damn impressed with how the defense didn’t get a late hit out of bounds or a targeting penalty. They weren’t looking for the big hit and just tackled very well. It was sound hard nosed defense! There wasn’t any frustration. Just a business trip. Kudos to Baker and the leaders on this defense.

Noticed this too. Not highlight reel stuff, but solid fundamental football that wins championships.

It took getting the right jimmys and joes for Baker but the defense was absolutely cooking game 1

And at least one game when we didn’t have a costly coverage breakdown! Hope it is a trend!

Wrapped up and brought to the ground. Been a while since I have seen that, was getting tired of trying to knock the guy down over the last 5 years just to see him bounce off and keep running.

I mean Haulcy's hit in the second half on the tight end over the middle was a pretty damn good hit. But yest very fundamental in the approach.

Also, there were two huge hits Jack Pyburn did on the running back in the hole on run plays when Randall was tasked with blocking for Klubnick and Pyburn blew up Randall both times. Wasn't a tackle so it goes unnoticed but damn it was impressive. Exactly how its taught too when attacking to close holes.

We also had gang tackles throughout the game. Guys were swarming all over the ball carrier.

They were effective and looking to smash players at the same time. Intelligent football.

Woodland missed a one-on-one tackle, where Clemson almost cost us a TD for the tie.

It was controlled anger for sure. The last couple of seasons have been hard to watch due to the soft tackling of the defense.

Like don't most dudes put on the pads to go and hit people - you got one job

No late hits OOB, sliding QBs. Very disciplined.
