No. He's not a football player. Never was. Great athlete that's not a football player. Was soft as baby tissue. I doubt he would've even cracked the lineup to get catches. He couldn't catch in traffic for shite.

The kid thought he was better than he was. Hanging with Odell didn't help.

False false false and more false. His technique is terrible. He catches the balls against his body. He must have had nude photos of Les Miles for him to even sniff the field while here.

Dupre had a different set of rules ...he was allowed to drop plenty passes at LSU ; But never rode the bench

Dupre might be competing at #4 with Racey McMath

Obviously Malachi had some personal deficiencies that hurt him but with his physical tools in this offense he probably would have been a multi-year 1000 yd WR and top 3 round pick.

I don’t take any great joy in saying what I’m about to say. However....

Malachi was Charmin soft and was allergic to the weight room and hard work too it seemed.

Racy McMath has accomplished more in his time than Dupre did in a similar period. Yes, some of that can be attributed to the reps available and the upgrade at QB.

But with three NFL WR’s ahead of him and/or alongside of him..it’s much more about what that young man has done off the field and then when he got on it than it was about some relative level of missed opportunity for Dupre.

JMO...But Dupre had zero dog in him. Whatsoever.

The only game I can remember him really going after the ball aggressively was his last game at LSU, the bowl game vs Louisville. He didn't seem to be a great route runner and he played smaller than he was. He's not in the same league as Chase, Jefferson or Marshall.
Unfortunately that bowl game seemed to convince him to jump to the pros. I rarely say this about players, but he could have really used one more year of college to gain some strength and consistency.

He was a good player, but I never saw his toughness, ability to consistently win one on one battles. In fact, I don’t believe he worked as hard as the receivers now at LSU with his hands or route running.

Dupree was soft. He would not have fought for balls that this group of receivers fought for.

Who cares what he would have done in another system. He still made it to a camp in the NFL and he didn't make it. He's still young and has a chance but this is on him, not LSU. LSU gave him a chance to make it to the NFL which he did, it's not LSU job to make him stay in the NFL.

He lacked the ability to 'Catch' a football. Maybe the US bobsled team could use a "athlete."

Better question: Could Brady have made Malachi Dupre better?

Sometimes you have to just acknowledge that the scouts got it wrong. Same with that other dude around the same time that transferred to Oklahoma State.

False. Numbers would have been better, but a good bit of Dupre's issues are between the ears.

bullshite. His problem was zero physicality (on routes, at the snap, and when the ball was in the air) paired with mediocre speed and inconsistent hands.

It’s the lesser known guys like Dural and Gage who would’ve benefited most.

Dural would have straight dominated last year had he ran through the offseason with these guys. He was that one typical 3 star WR we get that ends up showing out 3-4 years in.

If you are correct, why didn't the WRs that were playing two and three years ago, start and or be more productive in 2019?
The younger WRs were better athletes and/or better students of the offense.

I'll tell you why. The previous WRs were all just athletes.

Drake Davis was an athlete that was just bigger, stronger, and faster than everybody (also way too immature). This guy had Julio Jones level physical talent, but a 10 cent head.

Sullivan was a guy that several on the recruiting boards including me, wanted to play defense as he also played DE in high school. He looked better as a DE than a WR to me similar to Devonta Lee looking better as a safety than WR. Him nor Devonta wanted to come to LSU if they made them play defense (this is the stupidity than Devin White didn't have).

Derrick Dillon didn't do anything wrong, but he was also a guy who primarily played QB in high school and had to learn route running and all that at LSU. I always wanted to see him break out, but I think he was never better than 3rd or 4th on the depth chart. It sucks that he was neither invited to the senior bowl or combine, because I think both could have helped in getting him drafted. He's going to run a 4.3 something at pro day and even if somebody doesn't draft him, he'll get picked up immediately after the draft.

On another note, the actual legit WR prospect Anderson couldn't keep his dumbass out of trouble. I could have easily seen him forth on the depth chart this year and 3rd next year, but he wanted to keep screwing up. Kid had what was needed to be a top WR, just couldn't hold it down off the field.

Would have had to put in the work and stop the drops. Dupree dropped enough balls to have probably won a couple of more games for LSU.

Yes he played in an old style offense with Harris and then Etling. But you still have to catch the ball.
