In this order imo:
1. USC not playing LSU back in the Sugar Bowl
2. Auburn being left out
3. UA magically being let back into the title conversation immediately after LSU beat them in Ttown.
Disagree with the Auburn thing being worse than 2011. SEC didn't have the perceived strength back then, and and Big XII was better back then from a SOS standpoint.
Regardless, 2011 was much worse. I think it's:
1 USC not playing LSU back in the Sugar Bowl
1a UA magically being let back into the title conversation immediately after LSU beat them in Ttown.
3 Auburn being left out

Sometimes I wonder if our program should have "campaigned" to have Oklahoma State play in the game instead by saying we want a new challenge and that we don't want to play a team that couldn't win its own division etc. etc.
LSU was completely screwed. We couldn't say anything without looking like we were scared to play it. Now - getting shutout - that's always going to be tough to swallow. But Bama had all the momentum going into it. There was no way we could beat them again.
And it took that regular season win, SEC West Division championship and the SEC championship and made them mean nothing.
I'd never been as passionate about this football team up until that point, and I never will again. That process killed it for me. We can win or lose from here on out, and I'm just down to have a good time. That shite changed me. Probably for the better - but deep down, it's why we can't sell our bowl game tix out anymore. 10 win seasons after that is just a malaise. It's hard to whip the masses up into being able to care that much again.
I think LSU's football soul kinda got a death punch during that whole thing. And the only way to get back up to speed is to have some cataclysmic collapse down the road and have to climb the mountain back up again. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's just me.

As much as it sucks that they were let back in. We still had the opportunity to beat them that night. Auburn was never given the chance. That's why I rank it #2.

I hate bama so much...

Ive said from then, that was the biggest psychological advantage that Bama had over LSU.
no doubt
but they were the best 2 teams in the country...so I think they got it right, as unfair as it was...but life's unfair. Beating them twice, they would have been known historically as one of the best teams of all time. That alone should have given them motivation.

how he and many teammates were pissed off about how Bama made it back in after beating them in T-Town
Why didn't they take that rage and go out there and beat them again in New Orleans? I've said it before and I'll say it again, the LSU team (mainly the offense) was afraid of Alabama that night. But in the end, the BCS worked and the best team was crowned NC.

3 Auburn being left out
1. Nebraska getting in over Oregon in 2001
2. USC being left out of the title in 2003
3. Alabama getting back into the title in 2011
4. Auburn being left out in 2004

I'd say USC being left out in '03 was maybe worse. Both were atrocities.
Yeah, Oklahoma had no business being in that game.

One of 2 things happened:
1) One of the conspiracy theories that floated around forever after the game but not a single soul from the team has spoken a word of it (not likely).
2) An LSU squad was unmotivated to play a game.......we've had this discussion recently, haven't we?
Not a Miles basher, but I can see him and the staff prepping like it was just another game and not addressing the sentiment of having to play Bama again as much as they should.

It definitely killed something inside of me. Up until then the irrational part of me always believed that the football gods favored LSU, that good things were going to happen just because we were LSU. Now the rational part of me knew that wasn't the case, but the irrational part usually won out and that made the season so much fun.
Now the irrational part of me is convinced the football gods have turned, and that every 50/50 bounce will go against us and that Alabama sometimes does things just to frick with me, and while the rational part knows that isn't so, football season is just not as fun now regardless of whether the rational or irrational part wins out.

It also didn't hurt the Skoal Juice Chin MulliGumpNecks that:
* A faction of BCS Human Poll Voters and Coaches voted Oklahoma State FIFTH OR SIXTH, when every other voter had them second or third (except Satan - who had them fourth.) If they had not voted blatantly biased against OSU - they would have been in the Superdome on 1/9 not shama.
* Oklahoma State was led to believe, with it's SOS, that it would jump Alabama to #2 if they routed Oklahoma to win the Big 12.
* They did just that, by four touchdowns, over the former #1 Sooners. Okie State's SOS put bama's to shame. But they were lied to.
* SOS and Conference champions were """"supposed""" to be strong factors in calculating BCS points in the rankings. Evidently not in December of 2011.
* Saban was allowed to lobby for his team on national TV during the SECCG. Why was Gundy not afforded the same chance ???
I guaran-damn-tee you - if LSU had lost on 11/5/11 we would NOT have been given a do-over.
Bama was given a do-over just because of their name, and the media wanted to see a re-match. No other reason.
My question - why even play the SECCG that year
?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
And why wasn't Michigan given a mulligan do-over against Ohio State in the Jan. 2007 BCSNCG ??????
This was the first time in history that the media decided who would play in the BCSNCG, NOT the computers.
And it ruined the best regular season in CFB history. What a damn shame.

Most important thing he said is that he didn't start a revolution the night before or day of the game. He said he can't make that clear enough.
Also discussed how disappointed he was that he watched and did not get to play.
Began discussion chatting about his respect for Stud as a good man.

I'm so tired of people saying that Auburn got screwed.
There were 3 teams deserving that year. Someone had to be left out.

Wouldn't have worked. ESPN was already talking rematch the Monday after 9-6. It was preordained. Okie State losing just helped legitimize the screw job somewhat.

It's the most unfair thing that ever happened in the BCS era.
I don't know. Nebraska got drilled 62-20 by Colorado in their last regular season game and didn't make it to the big 12 championship and got a chance to play the Miami Hurricanes.
