So I have not been to a game in a while, because I refuse to pay the 700.00 per ticket to watch the gumps in TS.
Only stupid people pay that much for tickets.

Why is the problem being blamed solely on the students, from the student section it looked like there was much more empty seats on the East side of the stadium
Because when the students leave you see silver, when sidelines leave you see yellow

This is the Netflix Generation.
After a game is in hand, they can go home and watch it on a big screen TV, have some beer & grub on-the-cheap from their fridge, and quickly take a bathroom break without missing any action.
Or just not show up at all.

Congratulations. That might be one of the most idiotic posts I've ever seen on here.

Cost of tickets is only an issue for maybe one or two games a year. You could show up on campus for 4 or 5 games a year and likely be given tickets for free at kickoff and at worst you may have to pay between 50-70$ face value.
But he DESERVES to get tickets for the biggest game of the year for face value.
Over the past few years, I can barely give away tickets if the opponent isn't named Alabama. With all of the empties on this past Saturday, I would be surprised if there weren't tons at or below face. Arizona and Washington a few years ago, had to eat the tickets. Great weather and tried selling them for $5 or $10. No takers.

It's a catch 22. Your team is either really good(like LSU) and the students leave early when the game is in hand or your team is really bad and everyone leaves early because of a blowout. So to keep the fans at the game LSU would have to play a nailbiter every week at home. Then the rant will bitch. so there really is just no end to the bitching on the rant. And if anyone thinks LSU didnt have the Florida game under control since the 1st quarter is a tard.

Isn't there one local Attorney that's a big L.S.U. fan that would be willing to file a class action lawsuit against the SEC/CBS?
Wanna take a guess as to why some people think attorneys are fricking pond scum?

Fans from 1990s, 1980s, 1970s certainly thought the same about the early 2000s (beginning of the fair weather fans for LSU).

i'll never understand why some of you give a shite what the SS does or when they come/leave.

There are a lot of reasons that less people are going to the games.
LSU games have always been an all day event. Moving so many of the big games (nearly all of them) to day games has started to kill that tradition. Between getting to the game and setting up your tailgate, you almost immediately have to head over to the stadium and can't really enjoy things as much.
Big games are going away. LSU used to have lots of huge home and away games versus OOC. The moves to both 12 game regular season schedules and conference championships have killed that. Look at some of the previous years' OOC competition for home games:
1980 - FSU, KSU, Colorado (all at home)
1981 - Oreg St, FSU (home); ND (away)
1982 - Oreg St, FSU (home);
1983 - FSU, UW (home)
1984 - Arizona (home); USC (away)
1985 - UNC, ND (away)
1986 - A&M, UNC, ND (all at home)
1987 - tOSU (home); A&M (away)
1988 - A&M, Miami (FL) (home); tOSU (away)
1989 - FSU (home); A&M (away)
That's 10 years for the most part where LSU was relatively good. Lots of big OOC games. The television contracts have given LSU tons of money, but in the end have killed watching the product live. Now big games are all going to neutral sites and killing OOC home games as LSU is left with games like Kent State, AUB and freaking Furman.
In the end, the TV personalities can whine all they want, but its largely their faults in large part as much as anyones.

FTR, though, I do think the AD needs to take back some of the student seats. Demand was really high between 2005-2008. I cant imagine its as high now as it was then. AD needs to go brush up on their economics.

Agreed frick CBS. I hate everything about CBS.
With that being said, I still wouldn't leave at halftime of a game that's not even remotely close to being over.

Let me use the 2012 LSU/Alabama game as a reference.
I agree with everything you said. One of the best games I've ever been to.
Easy to use one of the biggest games in recent memory as your point of reference. Were you all at any other games, such as Saturday's game?

i agree but i think it's a different mindset.
age has a lot to do with it but when i was a student i was hardcore. i missed one home game in 5 yrs and probably only left early late in 4th during blowouts vs cupcakes.
we camped out overnight for independence bowl tickets in 95. in the indy bowl (bc we were students) we never sat. some cajun guy behind me kept yelling at me "you don't go to A&M, you go to LSU."
i said something to the effect of "we're students, we don't sit down, pierre."
all i know is, if 19 yr old me sat in front of 37 yr old me i'd punch me in the back of the f'ing head.

I just want to chime in and bitch about people showing up late. I'm on a walkway level and there were people showing up to the game at the end of the 1st quarter looking for seats. I'm sure some of these same people were leaving early too. It's comedy to me.

Why anyone would go to a game in person when they can watch it from the comfort of their home, be able to follow all of the nuances of the game thanks to replays, etc., and have easy access to cheaper nourishment and a comfortable bathroom is beyond my level of understanding.
At least you admit it is a limitation of yours.

I haven't been to a game since 2007 and have no intention of going to another until I can afford a comfortable suite and one of those nearby apartments for convenience.
There is something to be proud of.
