Maybe old, but not so wise.

As I recall in the few games in which they were worn during that era, they seemed to lose. I think, and perhaps other old timers remember better, they were worn at away games or bowl games, and infrequently, if at all, at home. Of course the real reason they lost had nothing to with the jerseys, but it was popular to regard the purple jersey as bad luck.

I'd like the purple jerseys more if we could get rid of the gold and white shoulder stripes. When I see the solid purple practice jerseys, I think that's a better look.

Not sure if its my tv, but the color of the purple jerseys does not look like the same purple used everywhere else. They look more blue.

Wife walked in and said the same thing the last time we wore them

I'd merely have to disagree.

I love LSU, and I do love their uniforms and colors, but I'd have to disagree with SVP. Although I'm not really a fan of any other teams, there are some teams with uniforms that I like more than LSU's.

the kids that play for LSU now were not born in the 70's, 80's. They love the purple and the weird color combinations. It is a nice for recruiting

I thought this was the best alt uniform helmet. If you couple that with the whites this year, it would be the best of both worlds.

No doubt that is true. I am not opposed to the occasional variation. I don't mind the purple jerseys, and think we use them about right now. But I'd stick with the one who brought you to the dance for the most part.

I always felt that the team wearing the dark jersey had an advantage. For a fraction of a second, it's harder to determine if the running back has the ball or if the quarter back kept it. Whereas with the white jersey, it's much easier to spot the ball in running back's midsection.

It's because it looks blue on TV, if it looked purple they probably wouldn't care.

whether you want to call it 'blue and yellow' or 'purple and gold' it still looks awesome and best looking in football. Wouldn't change a thing other than wear them more often.

I would not be happy with purple as the regular home jersey. It just isn't LSU otherwise.

but if we wore it as the regular home jersey it would become 'LSU'. It took time for home white to become a tradition so it would just take a couple years for purple jerseys at home to be a tradition. It would become 'LSU'.

Agreed. I don't understand the obsession over the white color.

The purple jerseys with gold pants are the best combination, but given the snake-bit history, I understand why people don't want us to wear them except against OOC teams at night. They're the equivalent of Notre Dame's green jerseys, amazing looking, but damn near cursed.

The whites are clean and pristine. It's a great classic look with a ton of tradition behind it.

The purple jerseys with white helmets and pants is another really cool look. I like it as a maybe once every year or 2 thing, but not a great full time look. More of a novelty.

The "real gold" stuff looks terrible. We end up looking like Georgia Tech or Washington.

I would like to see an all white storm trooper look (the white helmets and pants with the white jerseys) broken out for an early season day game (maybe against someone like Auburn or Florida) with a WHITE OUT instead of a gold game.
