I don't even like really even acknowledging the notion that we should have to harken back on that game as some sort of benchmark on why "the committee" can justify ranking us where they do, so I won't even really get involved in the discussion. It is what it is.
I will say, there's probably not 5 teams in the country that Texas wouldn't have beaten on that Saturday night in September in their stadium. Again, I'm not even acknowledging or conceding that it matters for ANYTHING AT ALL RIGHT NOW. I'm just saying.

Cincinnati played much of the season without their starting QB (played vs Ohio State).
Indiana played much of the season without their starting QB, (played vs Ohio State).
Every team has injuries. Why aren't you talking about those teams? Using rankings of teams when played early in the season is a joke. Everyone who is having a rational and honest diacussiin knows that.
Texas just isn't a good football team.

This x 1000 . You couldn't have said it better. Dont get me wrong, I think it's important what a teams final ranking is vs what they were ranked at the time . But you have to look at the circumstances too. Texas has suffered massive injuries since we played them the 2nd game of the year . When we played them, they were healthy, we were at their place, at night, prime time tv, one of the biggest/most anticipated games for them in a long time & the atmosphere was electric for them .

Teams do change throughout the season you know. Some improve, some get worse. Week 2 Texas would beat the current version by 4 TDs.
