I’m very surprised Clapp hasn’t been drafted yet. I for sure thought he would go 4th round.

I'm not. He was told to stay in school.

I thought before the draft maybe 7th round possible udfa. He should've come back.

These players really need to pay more attention to draft recommendations. Was started to help them, but LSU players largely ignore.

These are the type of junior declarations that kill us

Imagine how much better people would feel about next year if just Clapp and Tolliver were coming back

He has his degree. Why would he need to come back and risk injury?

To improve his draft stock. The contract for a Senior that is drafted in the 2nd round is substantially more than a junior drafted in the 5th. See D.J. Chark.

Clapp started more games in his career than Chark. Clapp has his degree. I’m not sure how coming back would have improved anything.

It's amazing how many guys leave early when they shouldn't. Clapp is #55 on ESPN's best available. He might not get drafted

Yeah, because LSU never did that before.

Clapp had a few shoulder issues too. He played through it most of the time, but that's just something that NFL teams keep in mind long term.

So far all he’s proven is he can get bodies.

Our number-one JUCO OT looks like a turnstile.

Reminds me of what Buddy Ryan said in training camp of some highly touted lineman somebody nicknamed “The Destroyer”:

“The only thing I’ve seen him destroy is a cheeseburger.”

How do UDFA contracts work? Do they still get the league minimum?

Yes. If they make the team.

Otherwise, nothing guaranteed.

Not a bunch. All our lineman that are draft eligible had constant injury issues so it won't be too surprising if they didn't get picked.

His having his degree is a non-factor as far as an NFL career. Another year of development is never a negative.

I think the only lineman that should’ve returned was Weathersby. Even if the flood in Houston hadn’t caused him family to need money immediately, I still think he would’ve went pro. 3 years and you’re out. That’s the culture.
