And of course, The Rant jumps to conclusions and uses emotion instead of logic

quote:

Ryan Nielsen will get a new 3-year contract and the added title of assistant head coach with the Saints, per source.

Dan Campbell had the title of asst. head coach before leaving for the Lions. So Nielsen will take on some of the leadership duties associated with that role.

Listen, I know the saints have you joe Brady, and literally kept o’s job, but we promoted this guy. The saints do not give one frick about lsu. If y’all need another waterboy or security guard let us know since we apparently supply lsu football with everything else lately. Jesus Christ

I love LSU more than the Saints, but man a lot of y’all really are idiots. As if the Saints are really obligated to do things to help out LSU. They don’t give a rats arse about LSU and why should they. No NFL teams gives a shite about the local college team. The only time they care is to just appeal to LSU fans, since most of them are also Saints fans.

How is them keeping a coach that they value screwing over LSU?

The only way the Saint's are screwing LSU is that we waited and didnt proceed with other interviews during this time as we were waiting on the Saint's season to come to an end. This is just as much LSU's fault as there was plenty to gain by interviewing other candidates during this time period.

The real issue is that in almost every contract a coach is allowed to leave through promotion as long as they meet some prequalifies, the team they are leaving for is outside of the division or conference. Clearly the coach and his agent thought they had that ability, however, the Saints wrote a contract that did not allow that. Nielsen should definitely fire his agent if those assumptions are true, that is inexcusable. Second, regardless of the contract language, it is extremely poor form for the Saint's to enforce that contract for a promotion outside the entire league (let alone outside division and conference). Honestly I believe it is a very short sited position as agents will steer their up and coming coaches away from the Saint's for fear that this is the Saint standard operating procedure.

All around this is a bad look.

To hell with the New Orleans Saints! Their owner also happens to be the richest person in Louisiana and still takes that money! Her husband scored a $400 million deal from state tax payers about a decade ago. LINK

No because the owner of the Saints is the richest person in Louisiana! She will be fine without hard working state payer's money!

You may think it is stupid but it is true. All Louisiana taxpayers subsidize the NO Saints. That Superdome was built by all LA taxpayers.

Ok....so explain to me again how this pertains to LSU looking for a new defensive coordinator?

Why did they let him interview

O didn’t from the reports I was seeing. It was desperation assuming he would accept because of he and O’s relationship. He didn’t sit for a formal.

He had a verbal agreement with the department, then someone from LSU screwed up and didn’t read Nielsen’s contract.

It actually works out for the state in sales tax, moneywise. And despite pretty great fans, La. is not a big market--most owners not named Mrs. Benson would take the extra money they would get by moving the team.

CSP didn't play anybody. He kept his guy who was under contract.
The LSU AD dept was inept in their handling of this.
