I'm not justifying people litering, especially when there are hundreds of trash cans around campus. Our group always use the cans and stack excess trash around them once they are full..
However, I have been there on a Sunday morning to pick up my car and I witnessed LSU Facility Services picking up the cans and dumping the trash all over the ground. And not just in one spot, but in a line back to their truck. Apparently there job is to only pick up the cans on Sunday, the prisoners come by later and actually pick up the trash.
So if you want a culture change, let's start with the people who are actually responsible for taking care of campus.

if you get an MIP on campus or get caught wiht alcohol in the stadium have to pick up the campus after games so since they are the ones that have to pick it up they should be able to trash it also
If this is the kind of logic they're teaching at LSU these days, things have declined embarrassingly.

Bottom line: there are not enough trash cans.
They put out one per tent no matter the size at 5am Saturday. This ignores those who bring their tents out there later.
And yes, I realize you can bring your own trash bags, we do the same. But there is still always stuff simply piled up around cans and after 12+ hours like that, it will move.

Why would the students trash the same campus that they are going to be attending class in on Monday?
maybe it's the way they were brought up? never learned to be responsible for their actions? possibly they don't care that everything they do affects others? They feel entitled and think people should clean up after them because their parents told them they were special all their life?

TClayboy and SimonSlick...as a member of Big Perm's, I can guarantee it was not our tailgate. As referenced in geauxgrrl's initial message, this is near, but not on the same corner as our tailgate. Our tailgate is at the corner of Highland and Dalrymple, not by the Music building. And, as a side note, our tailgate was clean after the game.
I'm friends with quite a few of ya'lls crew. I usually stop by and say hello at the few games I attend. I was hoping this thread wasn't referring to ya'll...

I usually visit with some of these "kids" on gameday; didn't make it by last Saturday.
I'll have word with the boys, fwiw.
Of course, I also asked them last year to upgrade from Keystone, and that went nowhere.

I took my 7-year-old daughter along the far side of Nicholson on the way to the stadium. She got to beer bongs hanging from trees and groups of students acting like complete idiots. On the way back, she was disgusted by the filth everywhere.
It turned into a pretty good lesson on why getting drunk is bad.

My dad asked the same thing. I told him as soon as you're willing to fork over the $25 difference a keg for bud light, we'll switch.

I used to help clean up the stadium Sunday mornings. Never seen so much dip spit in my life...
As bad as that might of been just think what a clean-up crew in Starkville goes through...

Hey, I ponied up an extra $100 last year just for the upgrade. Little rascals just bought more Keystone ... they did thank me cuz their budget had run out by season's end
It's good to be the Fat Man.

Same here. I always stop by when I get to go to a game. I know almost all of them.

As far as I know that always was the Delta Chi frat spot. I know a lot of those guys and am still friends with them. They did leave a massive mess though when done.
Posted on 9/14/09 at 5:19 pm to Geauxld Finger
Massive mess is a good description, but it does not even do it justice. The perpetrators should be spied on, found out, and band from campus. It is the most disgraceful thing I have ever seen on a public grounds. To think they get away with it pisses me off every time I walk by there after a game. Anything they did to them would not be hardly enough. If you have never seen it, don't give us an opinion. You can't possibly imagine it unless you have walked by a landfill lately.
