Did he ever live up to his potential as a pro? I don't see him on a roster anywhere.

I think that's because he spent too much time posting on this board....

2000 was a great basketball year watching Swift and Smith and team grow into a good basketball team.

And no he didn't live up to his hype. I think he was the 2nd pick in the draft.

Really? That's a shame.

I always confuse him and Brandon Bass in my mind. At one point, didn't LSU have Swift and Bass on the same team? Then, Glen Davis came right behind them, playing with Bass for one year.

Add in Tyrus Thomas and LSU had some good forwards over the past decade. All of them went pro early and none of them (except Big Baby) amounted to much. Bass has done fairly well, I guess.

No.

Swift left in 2000.
Bass joined the team for 2003-2004 season.

No. Bass came a year or two later('00 was Stro's last year). Your starting lineup in '00 was Swift, Jabari Smith, Torris Bright, Brian Beshara & Lamont Roland. CT3 and Brad Bridgewater were the top reserves and Ronald Dupree was on the squad as well.

he has bounced around to several teams- never improved his game much from blocking shots to dunks-

However he has made a good living so far- so did not live up to his draft status but did not pull a Jamarcus R either!

Which is why I just can't get into men's basketball anymore. It's hard to follow a team when the personnel changes annually, especially when the team, for the most part, sucks. I wish they could actually get a decent team together, STAY together, GROW together, and improve together. But that's just not the way it is anymore.

I'm getting old.

My buddy teaches English in Jinan, China. He tells me that Swift plays for the local team.

Even though it's China, I've heard it's pretty good deal for former players. Around $100,000 a year (which is 6x in Chinese money) and all meals and whatever are provided for.

I feel the same way. I used to love the teams back in the 80's and early 90's when I was a kid. You knew who the players were and the teams built upon themselves year after year.

College Basketball is awful now.

Going too early was TT's issue as well as SS

Stromile couldnt handle the double team in college, i forget who they played in the tourney but LSU looked awesome until they started double teaming Stromile and he seemed to throw it away every time... they kept saying NBA coaches would correct it, but i guess they never had to worry with it.
