re: Strange that CBK doesn't seem to be catching much criticism

and we got out-schemed badly on both sides of the ball.
There was nothing about their “scheme” that won that game for them. It was purely that we played lethargic and the defense may as well not even been on the field for most of the game.

If you’ve done “better than expected” you then can’t be upset about one loss. Losses were supposed to happen this year. It’s just unfortunate that it was to A&M.
Ask yourself this. Would you have been as upset had we lost to any other team this year?

Talent gap. A&M was not supposed to be this bad and LSU
was not supposed to be this good.

Meh, of all the QB's that lead their team to the cfb playoff, they overwhelmingly run to buy time to pass down the field. That's definitely not how JD operates. Once he takes off, he's run ALL THE WAY.
At this point, I'd prefer he just make the decision to run faster and not hold the ball. He is quite calm and doesn't appear to get rattled. That's why it's so strange when he eats a sack instead of throwing the ball away. He's too mobile not to scramble out the pocket and get rid of the ball, much like Bryce Young does. It hinders the offense throughout the course of the game.
I think many of the same fans that criticize JD would be happier with his play if he just threw the damn ball. Something is very off about his selection as to when he throws to open guys. I refuse to believe any QB in Div I football is that afraid of a turnover. God, JD ate a sack on a 2 pt. conversion attempt. There was absolutely no way he was running that in the endzone but he ran and then just ate the ball. You throw to a guy even if he's covered. How many times have we watched him get out the pocket and run towards the sideline and get tackled for a 3 or 4 yard loss. Plenty of times he simply could've just thrown the ball away. I'll keep saying it, JD is playing for stats. He plays as if he would rather lose than risk incompletions and interceptions.

To me we weren’t prepared for Achane…our defenders were one on one with that guy way too often and he killed us…
His running negated our pass rush and I believe we didn’t play Perkins as much because he kept running himself out of position on runs.
Our offense wasn’t the problem, it was all defense and one fumble for a td.
That QB made throws he has never made ina game before and their recievers made incredible catches that we had totally covered.
The only thing I blame the coaches for is not devising a better scheme for Achane…the rest can be chalked up to it just wasn’t our night.

If Williams is 100 percent. We win that game. The problem LSU had was ball security with Emery and Cain not being explosive enough. It was like playing with one hand tied behind your back. The uncertainty about Emery and the lack of speed with Cain. Every Emery carry had me holding my breath. I can’t imagine how the coaches felt playing him. If they didn’t have to worry about his ball security, they could have featured him confidently.

I think most people realize that lack of depth has killed us this far into the season and that November is a long ways away from August. Having to rely on the same few guys for 14 weeks straight was too much for a young team. Starters very seldom even got to sit out drives because every game we've been in had been that close.

Until CBK can recruit and groom his guy this is all we have.
He recruited Walker Howard when he was still at Notre Dame.
BK knows his skill set.
Daddy Jaime wanted him to RS his freshman year, so that's why he didn't play this season.
JD5 was brought in to just get through this initial season.........

The reactions to this post are weird. You can applaud the body of work this season while criticizing individual games/aspects of games.
This board loves its sweeping generalizations— that’s for sure.

yet his last few years all he had was white QBs on his roster at ND and was recruiting Howard there
Also the 2 black kids he has committed here are both pass first guys. Hurley is getting knocked on his ranking because of his lack of rushing yards
