He also said that Coach BK is doing a great job and that he will win a National Championship at LSU. He was very complimentary of LSU and the environment Saturday night

Bama should move UP in the rankings to four or five. Stating they have a better shot at getting in the playoffs than LSU or another one loss team.

Did he really say that?

I had so much respect for him last week when he broke down the game and gave us mad props.

Can anyone explain how people can think its OPI?

Exactly. I just watched the play like 10 times and don't see anything close to OPI. If McElroy (or other gumps) really believes that, it shows just how entitled they really are that they expect the refs to just make up penalties to gift them wins.

Seriously, though, Nabers and Jenkins just ran simple hooks and were looking back at the QB for a pass. Jenkins and the Bama DB got a little physical at the top of his route, but he clearly wasn't setting a pick as he quickly turned to Daniels to look for the ball.

This is one of the most ridiculous takes I've ever heard.

I had assumed that since Red was no longer part of gumpland and had a job for which being even handed was critical, that he would be above such takes. He is a small person if he thinks LSU should have lost due to a non OPI call. I guess he was OK with the two review which screwed LSU leading to 10 gump points.

bullshite!

But, even if so, we just back up, kick the extra point, and whip that arse in OT #2.

Are you talking about on his podcast?

Because on his podcast he said Brian Kelly ran the same play he ran against Florida State that was called OPI and he said that ND essentially won that game because it wasn’t a OPI.

He only had good things to say about LSU on his podcast.

I guess he didn't mention the tipped ball in OT that would have caused Bama to kick a field goal? We should have never gotten to the 2 pt conversion

This is a bulls=t post. McElroy didn't state that and thats why the OP can't seem to find the link.

McElroy is always fair.

Any sort of respect that I've gained for him over the years, I just lost.

Also, OPI on the 2-pt...this is news to me. Are people claiming this??

The only gripe I see Alabama having that could have been called on that series is the block in the back my Taylor on the td run by Daniels.

I was listening to them up until 8. If he did indeed say this I'd love to hear the context. McElroy is about as "umGump" of a Gump as you'll find. He was really letting the players and staff (Tide) have it this morning.

the defender has to run through a lot of traffic to cover it up. They ran it to perfection, however OPI was called against Florida State a long time ago. The exact same play, same formation and everything.

I remember that ND/FSU game and that play in particular. If I recall correctly, the Notre Dame player made significant contact with the FSU defensive back and PI was called. In our case, the receivers were just running their routes, not blocking the defensive backs. Therefore, no PI.
