Stop with the money excuse; it takes time to build a program

No matter how much money you throw at a program, you can’t buy a championship program into existence immediately.
Kirby took 6 years at UGA.
Nick took 4 years at LSU and 3 years at Bama.
Harbaugh took damn near 10 years at Michigan.
Ryan Day took 6 years at OSU and still isn’t consistent.
And no I don’t care about what Cignetti did at Indiana. That’s the exception, not the rule. It will probably never be seen again. Plus, he had the luxury of a very easy Big 10 schedule the last few years.
It will take some time no matter how much money you throw at it. Let Lane build his program.

As many as it takes to ram the point through you retards’ thick skulls so you’ll shut up and be patient finally.
Apparently, the point still hasn’t hit home with most of you yet.

Shut up. None of those examples were in the era of transfer portal, so they mean nothing.
Cignetti made freaking Indiana into a playoff team in one year and won an NC in year two.
Some of you just have to make excuses for a bad hire in Kiffin.

What are talking about? Why spend 50 mil then? Spend 30 and have less pressure year one. Ucla and UK are doing pretty good year one. And I dont want to hear about ucla schedule. It's not great but they in Big 10 and are 9-0 vs spread. Good teams win, great teams cover.

Bingo! The “retards” are the folks who don’t understand the difference.

Youre fricking retarded. Lane should be fired after this year. It takes 1 year

Everyone you listed didn’t pre NIL.
Indiana proved everything you suggest to be WRONG. Cignetti is 35-3 in the conference that has won the last three national championships. And he did it at the school with the worst record in college football historically before he came on board.
I am not giving up on LK. I expect him to start winning consistently in year three and likely be the first coach at LsU to win multiple championships unless they fix the portal. But your whole post is absolute garbage and just wrong.

This kind of statement is so bad that it should be ban-worthy if the site Admins wanted to crack down on stupid BS on this site.
Someone calling Kiffin a bad hire 9 games into his tenure cannot be taken seriously and cannot make any meaningful positive contribution on this site.

Since you are so unhappy because you believe Lane is a bad hire, you owe it to your happiness and sanity, to be an Indiana and Cignetti fan with their cream puff schedule. Playing tough games in the playoffs. You are a front runner. (Band Wagon)

I already told you in the OP to piss off with that BS, and you didn’t listen.
Cignetti is a once in a lifetime phenomenon. He is a rare exception, not the rule. If you compare your program to what he did at Indiana, you will be disappointed 99.9% of the time.

Because that’s what every big program is doing to keep up right now, but it still won’t guarantee you any success. That’s my point.
Ohio State has 3 losses. Michigan has 5 losses. A&M has 5 losses.
That doesn’t mean you quit donating like a pussy and give up. It’s just part of what’s required in today’s age for you to at least have a chance at success. Regardless of money spent, it will still take time to build a program, especially in the SEC.

Fans don’t understand this anymore. They think you just buy titles now and year 1 is no exception. Thats why the monetary number keeps growing, need to exaggerate it since the logic doesn’t hold.

If we had the schedule Indiana had in year 1, we’re probably a playoff team too. We did a total overhaul, in a hard conference, with a bitch of a schedule. Besides what Cignetti has done is more of an outlier and not the norm.
If we’re at 3 losses this time next year, I’ll be more concerned.

Exactly. At least we have one sensible person in here without too much estrogen in his system.

The portal era has created a climate where the players (18-24 year olds) , with a few exceptions, have no loyalty to the university that pays them. And this is not just an LSU problem, its a universal problem.
It seems that when things start to go bad, they start looking out for themselves and where can they go next.
I'm not a fan of the NFL, but just imagine what a complete shite show that league would be if the players could pick the team that they want instead of the other way around??
Indiana is the exception to the rule.
It makes it exceedingly difficult to 'develop' players who have talent, but lack the maturity to stick it out, when they can just move on and get paid.
I liked it better when they got paid under the table or just earned a degree and got a real job that lasts more than a few NFL seasons that only a few of them get anyway.

So since NIL began the 4 programs with the highest roster retention are
Ohio State
Texas
Oregon
Georgia
We’ve had to start from scratch again but fans expect us to be at that level year 1 because we had to spend a lot just to get back into the top bracket of teams. It’s an easy cudgel to bash the coach with but it’s coming from a misunderstanding of how the consistent top teams are where they are.
Side note, Ole Miss is #5 including this year so Kiffin has shown he knows how to do this. Just needs a little time.
