Had this discussion with a friend of mine and I said the same thing. The number of guys we have bench over 30 reps at 225 has dwindled over the years.

It’s about functional strength

Strength is strength. They need to move heavy weight in the same exercises that have always made people strong.

Lol, prove it. What facts do you have, dumbass?

If you think that the difference between recruiting rankings determine everything, you're a victum of disorganized thinking.
If you think recruiting rankings aren’t the single biggest leading indicator for success, then you’re just naive. This myth needs to die. The fact that higher recruiting rankings correlate to success is not an opinion - it’s a documented fact.
And before somebody comes at me with “muh Clemson”.. yes, Clemson has played above their talent level. But that’s the exception, not the rule:

He’s next level. A lot of Saban’s Success is because if that guy.
Well then let's go after him, offer a big sum of money and hire the guy. We are paying 6 million less for a head coach and can spend more for a conditioning coach

I heard an interview with Tommy Moffitt and they were talking about Dare Rosenthal position switch. He said something to the effect that when Rosenthal was on defense he had one set of workouts for his position but once he made the switched to offense he had to switch his workouts. So it sounds like Moffitt is focusing on functional strength instead of lifting weights to get bigger. That's why Sullivan and Anderson can look the same now as they did as freshman. Divinity doesn't look like to have gained much muscle but he's strong enough to take on tackles.

We were deep
In 2011 we went 8-9 deep on the DL without missing a beat. THEN it was really "next man up". Now? Not so much

Give me a team like Bama that’s 3 deep with 5 stars at every position, and I’ll beat your arse without a damn strength coach!

Scott is using the same damn system as Moffitt, the hatch systems. You don't know what your talking about
Moffitt’s been modifying Hatch’s system for 20 years and they’re not even remotely similar these days. For someone who apparently knows Hatch’s system so well you sure don’t know what “your” talking about. Just because Moffitt was a Hatch protege in 1986 doesn’t mean that he’s running the “same damn system” as Scott Cochran, it means that they both can properly teach the Olympic lifts. Neither runs a copy of Hatch’s program if that’s what you’re getting at
Coach Hatch will throw Tommy Moffitt’s name around all day long because he likes the notoriety of having successful protégés but he’d probably tell you himself that Tommy is over the hump. The strength coaching game has come a longgggggg way since about 2005 and I’m in the “we need a younger guy who’s more up to date” boat

Been a problem for a long time!
That's recruiting and on moffit.
It's time to make a change at the S/C position

Bama has better players. If Moffitt was training them, they be just as good.
We couldn't get pressure on Tech, SELU, and Rice. I'm not saying Alabama doesn't have better talent, but we don't dominate teams like we used to.

Agreed. I'm really interested in seeing how Oregons team progresses. They've modified their gyms to use a lot of resistance bands to isolate different supporting muscle groups and make lifts more football specific.
Most people on here dont understand the difference between body building and sport lifting. Hatches programs were always so popular because power lifting in general was more applicable to football than classic body building. Things have now gone much further than that and I'd like to see what one of these newer coaches could do.
In my opinion LSUs conditioning program has been surpassed even by some in state highschools.
Maybe dont fire moffit but at least sprinkle in the new stuff with what hes doing.

Do you see LSU getting pushed around by most teams we play? I don’t. I consider that a fact then. Please point out all the teams that are dominating our guys.

This. I worked out with Hatch for a long time then I worked out with a guy who was a “mid-level” coach in a minor league baseball organization for a few years and that mid-level strength coach’s program absolutely blew Hatch’s out of the water, and this was in the late 2000’s. I credit Coach Hatch for pioneering modern day athletic weightlifting and being one of the greatest Olympic lifting coaches and mentors to ever live, but these younger guys are doing shite that turns you into a completely different athlete.
So much goes into these S&C programs these days that most of the “muh moffitt” mouthbreathers wouldn’t even know about. From nutrition to sleep to psychology to the actual programs themselves, guys like Cochran are more than likely light years ahead of Moffitt
