No its just too over the top.

You don't have P&G and then do some frilly shite like this.

Should we have players wear sequins on their shoelaces too?

A big thumbs down from me too. I hope LSU never screws with our look. It is iconic and immediately recognizable. Now I did like the Nike pro combat units from a few years back with the gold helmets. But I would only use that every now and then.

if lsu would have first came out with the tiger stripes in the 70's before the bengals did, it would have been epic.

I've said the same thing for years. They should've updated the LSU on the helmets to the Geaux Font. The "new" Tiger head used in the Spring game is okay. However, I do find it odd that's the only place it's used officially. I also agree about the freshen up. Look at the jerseys now. Just a couple of years ago Nike shortened the side stripes now they're back to previous length. The old gold helmets LSU used to use were great. I'd love to see them do one of those special uni games again with those helmets but nothing but the numbers or an "L" like the letter sweaters and jackets.

Does LSU not have the "eye" trademarked? I can't imagine they don't. I'd be sending a letter to Stillman telling them to kindly come up with their own helmet logo.

We aren't dicks about our logos. They aren't in direct competition with us

I'd rather see it on the traditional yellow helmet. Then maybe use it for the alternate uniform type game. The matte black is garbage.

Why does everybody like this -everything in black -when it's not part of your colors. The black lsu jerseys in lsu pro shop for example. FRIGGIN HIDEOUS!!!
let Oregon do their thing . We don't have to be like Oregon.

We absolutely are dicks about our brand, as any smart business is. However, im pretty sure the eye is done free hand every game and is different every time. Therefor it might not be trademarkable. Or that eye on the helmet is different in some slight variation than the one we use.

LSU aggressively protects its trademarks. They go after everybody.

Who's to say that they didn't secure permission from LSU before using it?

There is a trademarked version of the eye used for apparel and other applications (print media, debut cards, accessories) and this looks to be that version of the logo. And even minor changes won't always work to protect you when the legitimate owner of a logo or mark comes after you.
