Don't think it'll happen. Burrow completed under 60% of his passes last season, and LSU is not going to go away from running the ball. On top of that, unless Ed Ingram comes back soon and adds some depth and stability to the offensive line (assuming he's somewhat in shape), that group is still the biggest question mark on the team. They were suspect last year. The short, quick passing game and RPO's will certainly help Burrow on his comfort level, which should in turn help his accuracy. The core group of receivers are very talented and have the potential to be great, but remember Davey had a great group as well, including the Bilitnekof winner in Josh Reed.
When Joe Alleva named O the head coach he did so with the promise of raising the program back to national prominence. O has done exactly 0 to raise LSU back into the national championship picture. Wins over two teams with winning records, had the worst loss in 112-year series with Mississippi State and suffered the worst loss in the history of the 125 years of LSU football losing to Troy in Tiger Stadium. With all that being said, anything short of winning the SEC West and going to Atlanta and playing for the SEC title will be less than satisfactory to me. LSU went from winning 10 games a year and competing for SEC and National Championships, to fans now hoping for seven or eight win seasons. Which brings about the question - How did LSU fall to this level? Answer: Joe Alleva
Great insight. Realistic breakdown of what Burrow brings to LSU. I agree with Matt, I think Burrow will be fine if he gets the ball to the playmakers around him.
Likely I'll get excoriated for this, but here's my two cents worth...

I'm not an "O" supporter because he plainly doesn't deserve to be the head coach at LSU. He has done nothing to deserve the keys to a program of LSU's caliber. However, I don't fault O in wanting or pursuing and ultimately getting the job. It is his dream job. My issues fall squarely with Joe Alleva.
Alleva fired Miles, who averaged 10 wins a game, won SEC titles and a national championship and played for another, with the promise that he was going to hire a coach to raise LSU back to a level of national prominence and relevance. :banghead: Instead, he hires the D-line coach on Miles' staff that nobody in the country had any interest in. The same coach that won 10 games in his entire career at Ole Miss. That is how Alleva "raised the bar."
I can easily understand how apathy has creeped into many fans. Look at how attendance has dropped from 102K to a 98K per game average. Last year, LSU lost to Moo U by 31 points, the most in the 111 years of the series. Had the worst loss in LSU football history by losing at home to Troy. Then, when the Tigers had the chance for some redemption in the bowl game, lost to Notre Dame because of piss poor special teams and poor tackling. So, I certainly can see where apathy and skepticism has taken hold of a lot of folks.
Only the delusional fans say LSU is going to win 10 or more games. There are so many question marks surrounding this LSU team, especially on the offensive side of the football with a new OC, new unproven QB, no RB that's scored a TD, unproven WRs, new PK, etc. that coupled with a brutal schedule, most realists put the win total at 7 or 8 on the high end. I sure hope O proves me and every prognosticator wrong by winning 10 or 11 games. Because if he does, LSU would likely be in the college football playoff and have a shot at a national championship.
As great as Billy Cannon's punt return was, it gave LSU the lead. It took a defensive stop on Ole Miss QB Jake Gibbs to preserve the win for the Tigers.

Marcus Spears' interception for a TD was huge in lifting LSU to the win but it wasn't the defining play. Same for 2007 National Championship game. I could argue Rickey Jean Francois blocking the OSU field goal was the catalyst to LSU making an incredible comeback.

Warren Morris' two-out, two-run, walkoff home run in the CWS propelled LSU to a National Championship. I don't know how it gets bigger than that?
I do believe he and his wife will both be fired. If you ever read the book Violated about the Baylor scandal, you'd understand that failure to report violations of Title IX by university personnel, which both Urban and his wife are employees, are grounds for termination. I also think the big question now isn't about Urban and Shelley Meyer, it's about the OSU administration. If the Meyer's reported the 2015 incident to OSU higher ups, and it was covered up, then this will turn into a much bigger scandal.
It's a Title IX violation by Urban for not reporting it. It may also be a violation for his wife Shelley, who is a nurse with the OSU Health Center. At the very least it's an ethics violation for her not reporting the domestic violence.

Jim Tressel got fired for lying to the NCAA about players getting tattoos. This issue is infinitely worse. This is Title IX violations on multiple levels. McMurphy's report is extremely damaging evidence that Urban and his wife not only knew about the violence through the text messages, but also had photo evidence of the violence.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

And on top of all that, Alleva fell for the same binder charade that got O hired at Ole Miss. If that wasn't bad enough, Alleva then exacerbates the situation with giving him a ridiculous multi-million dollar buyout. :banghead:
What a great role model for every young athlete. Proud that he's a Tiger, and I believe he's going to have a HUGE year.
Those were great.Thanks for sharing!
Heck yes. I love all three. Only problem for me is they won't look as good on me and my beer gut.
I've said the same thing for years. They should've updated the LSU on the helmets to the Geaux Font. The "new" Tiger head used in the Spring game is okay. However, I do find it odd that's the only place it's used officially. I also agree about the freshen up. Look at the jerseys now. Just a couple of years ago Nike shortened the side stripes now they're back to previous length. The old gold helmets LSU used to use were great. I'd love to see them do one of those special uni games again with those helmets but nothing but the numbers or an "L" like the letter sweaters and jackets.
