I am not a Saban or Nutt lover, however it is difficult to say how well Nutt could have done with A+ facilities and a recruiting base. He might have served us very well, although it is difficult anyone doing better than Miles.

He would have won 10 games his first year, 9 games his second year, then fallen into obscurity after that. He's a clown. He can come in and motivate players who are hungry to succeed, but he can neither build nor sustain a viable football program.

Somewhat along the same vein, where do you Ranters think Houston Nutt will surface after this season, or will he even remain in coaching?

I could be wrong but I don't see a D1 head coaching gig as his next stop. Ole Miss spiraled right down the toilet with progressively worse seasons each year under this guy.

Maybe in Urban Meyer's chair as an analyst? I think he would be okay in that role.

Good think LSU was fooled once on hiring a replacement as suggested by a departing coach.

I was thinking the same thing.

It was a conspiracy - He knew one day he would be back in the SEC and wanted someone here he knew he would beat. Just like Arnspager told LSU to promote Archer when Spurrier was begging for the job. Then Arnspager goes to Florida as AD and hires Spurrier.

If I recall, Saban and Nutt had the same agent! That was the connection.

You guys are missing the real point of this thread, all of the bad coaching hires go back to the "string music" man who was our AD. He was a drunk who believed that the cheap way was the best way. LSU definitely got what that drunk paid for.
