CHS class of '76! We were good teammates and both enjoyed the competition - sometimes more in practice than the games! Give 'em hell "E." Happy for you and the fam. Beat Ala. and I'll show you how to solve those Sunday 5* SUDOKU's. Ha! "D"

His brother Brian's nickname was Coach Dickslinger.

Love threads like these. Always good to see "one of our homegrown own" do well. As a 50 year old, Enminger's teams are about as far back as I can remember - I barely remember Bert Jones (just remember my parents coming back from the 4 second / 2 play game), but remember Alexander and that bunch much more clearly.

IIRC, him and Woodley kinda split time / 2 qb'd, right ? W/enminger considered the "running/more veerish qb?

I've met Ensminger in the past, and my memory of him is that he was one of the nicest and most courteous people I have ever met.

My 1st game too. I was 10. It was the amazing how well Carlos Carson did.

I've been hooked ever since.

I'm sure he is. It wasn't my intention to say anything negative about Steve Ensminger. I simply noted what he was like when he was at LSU.

I'm very happy for him. He's earned his position and hope he has all the success that's possible.

I played against Steve while he was at Central High School and was at LSU while he was there. I wish him all the luck and good fortune.

Just like O everyone seems to be writing him off already as OC next year. The job he has done has been no less than phenomenal so far. He's been able to balance play calling to fit his QB's talents and positional talents. In short he has been efficiently and effectively utilizing the talent he has. This is all we have asked for the past 12 years.
A new OC is going to want everyone to convert to his way rather than him converting to the player ability. Enslinger has put up over 1600 yards offense in 3 games. Who will come in and do the same? Let the season play out a bit before banning him in the future.

Sounds exactly like what LSU is looking for.

My daughter competed against his daughter in softball. He was just a great guy to talk with. His offense is moving the ball and scoring points. I hope he has the call of his life against the gumps.

'78 was my 1st year at LSU, & if memory serves, toward the end of the Charlie4Heisman era & the Woodley/Ensminger platoon that Cholly Mac used.

Think Woodley was more the runner/scrambler, & E was the big arm pocket passer.

Hope continued success for Steve & he gets a shot at the perm OC job.

Nah, I'm not old, just seasoned.

Keep dreaming. Everyone wants the homegrown guys to be the coaches so bad that it's blinding true judgement. Ensminger and O, while both may be south LA boys and good people, are not what LSU needs. It is what it is. Neither have proven anything until they can consistently keep a top program at a championship level. Neither have in the past and I just don't see it changing. LSU needs the best hire possible for this program to get back to what is expected from LSU football.

I know what you're saying but did Les meet your qualifications when he was hired? Nick? DiNardo?
I don't see how you can ignore what has already been DONE so far. How can anyone maintain anything without opportunity?

Wow. Really? So what had Miles proven when we hired him? What had Saban proven when we hired him? What had any coach we have ever hired proven when we hired them? Are you a Herman guy? What the hell has he proven? What coach out there has proven what you think needs to be proven to qualify to be LSU's new coach?

Jimbo Fisher is a pipe dream.

"LSU needs the best hire possible for this program to get back to what is expected from LSU football."

Really? What is expected from LSU football you entitled little bitch?

I want the most from LSU Football as anyone but this thinking, IMO, is what is wrong with 50% of our fan base.

I'm not ignoring anything and it's been 3 games. Both have been given multiple opportunities to showcase what they bring to the table in their careers. It speaks volumes that neither have been offered more responsibility. Nobody is beating the doors down to hire O as their next head coach and the same goes for Ensminger. I'm not bashing them, they are great coaches at their respective positions as assistants and that's ok but O is not a head coach and Ensminger is not a respected top notch OC in the business. If anything maybe at a smaller directional school but not at a top 10 powerhouse program

I remember their era, I was a kid but still remember it. Ensminger was the passer and Woodley the runner. Combine both to get a whole QB. Lol

It's funny that Woodley went on to star in the pros with the Miami Dolphins even though Ensminger was the better passer.

And what makes you think Ensminger wouldn't get the OC job if Orgeron became HC on a permanent basis?? He's doing a fine job right now imo.

It's all about opportunity and the system you're dealing with. Now these two run the system and are doing an A+ job so far. It is precisely their experience you speak of that has made them what they are today. Life works that way for all of us, too! You learn from mistakes and grow.
