I think a lot of the appeal is in recruiting. Telling recruits they could be immortalized if they play ball here

how about dorsey throwing that auburn guard or hester trucking the tenn safety. both would be good ideas if we were to get a statue, but we really do not need one.

I like DocBugbear's idea. This is what he wrote in response to my idea of classical Roman marble busts of great players in our HOF on 4/10/11:

I think the idea of marble busts is nice, but not quite there. Instead we should slap the players heads on tiger bodies as with the sphinx and line them up at one entrance to TS.

LSU already has a statue. Mike......and that is enough

This. Wish I would've posted earlier..because I was thinking about this topic yesterday while listening to slimebomb discussing statues. This is exactly how I feel. LSU is not a coach, LSU is not a player. LSU is represented by a Tiger...and there is already a beautiful Tiger statue in front of Tiger Stadium. That's all I would ever want to be there.

If we start doing dumb shite like putting up statues to living coaches, next we will be killing trees of SEC rivals, packing the stadium for a practice and murdering boosters who get us on probation.

Keep your perspective above all else.

LSU is too good for statues of individuals. The exception could be Pete Maravich just because our basketball facility is named after him. The day we start building statues of players and, worse yet, coachs, is the day we fall to the standards of Bama fan.

Agreed, mike is the perfect statue and all that needs to be there imo.

We can't give Saban a statue any time soon. Maybe sometime in the distant future, way down the line.

Don't think we should give Miles one until after he retires.

We can give Cannon and Dietzel one, for sure.

Why am I only person who seems to like the sphinx-tiger-man statues idea?

The great thing is that you've answered your own question.

I personally don't like the idea of Bama and LSU having Saban statues though.

One of Alabama's championship coaches, Wallace Wade, has a stadium named after him at Duke as well as a statue. No one cared about that when his was added in 2006 outside Bryant-Denny Stadium. I doubt many would care at LSU many years from now either.
