Interesting.

You should do a comparison of Andrew Luck's Redshirt Freshmen year vs Harris' true sophomore year.

They were playing in totally different eras and the wr talent gap is huge.

You need to consider plays for each.
Harris took almost all snaps this year. Jones had to share with Lyons. Not sure if that was his senior year.

So we run the same offense they did in 1972. Ok, got it.

Different style of play. What we ran this year would have been considered a wide open air raid offense in 1973.

If you read game threads, you would get the impression LSU's offense runs a lot more and passes a lot less now than we did when Jones played.

Different Era dipshite. Yards passing were actually yards passing. Not 3 yard pass run for 30. According to this brandon Harris should be a very good NFL qb. Am I right?

Completely different eras. Plus Bert Jones didn't take every snap of the season.

I guess you are saying we don't want either one being our QB today?

This is quite possibly the most irrelevant comparison I have ever seen.

Bert Jones made it in the NFL, Harris won't. Just like Jefferson.

What would be an acceptable number here? 2,500 yards passing? He would have needed an additional 26 yards per game to get there through a full 13 game season.

If he can up the completion percentage closer to 60, the yardage of course will come. The main area he can increase his % and yardage is the short to intermediate.

Keep in mind Harris lost a games worth of stats this year so adding his average, he'd be around 2300 yards passing. Could some tweaks and practice get him up to 2700-2800 yards?

LOL. You do realize BH has all the tools NFL teams look for in a QB right? But way to judge a 19 y/o first year starter though.

Not justifying either position here, but to say this you must also concede that the DB and pass rush and lb gap today is by and large greater than back then as well.

Jones was drafted in the 1st round (2ndplayer). At LSU he shared qb duties and also played for a coach (Charlie Mac) that didn't believe in throwing the football. Charlie Mac, when asked why he didn't throw more, said ...when you throw 3 things can happen and 2 of them are bad.. You can't make this up. I've been watching LSU since the 60's...BJ was the best, hands down.
