Old PC won't start up

Posted by lsu68 on 6/17/24 at 11:40 am
I have and old compaq PC that won't boot. When the power button is pressed the power supply fan starts spinning, the CPU fan starts spinning and the HD starts. All this lasts about 3-4 seconds and then it all shuts down. (before any video displays). It has a new power supply and Win 10 PRO OS.

Any ideas greatly appreciated. TIA

They are eating the peanut butter bait without setting off the trap. Any ideas?
Went out to the launch pad at the Cape and took the elevator up to the shuttle walk way and crawled into the shuttle opening and had a quick look.
I have this since 2008 and use it a couple of times a week. Get a SS grate for it...

On a trip to Nova Scotia, we stopped in the Acadian fishing village of Cheticamp. I saw this tapestry of family names in the village.

I take my 2012 Pilot to the Honda dealer here in Huntsville. He does it (synthetic) for $55 and washes and vacuums my vehicle at no extra charge.

Disk/copy recommendation

Posted by lsu68 on 1/20/19 at 4:41 pm
On my Win 7 desktop I have 2 hard drives...C: with everything on it and D: which is totally empty. Both drives are identical manufacturer and size. The C: has been running for 9 years non stop. In the event of a failure I'd like to just have my BIOS point to D: and start up just like a normal C: startup.
What kind of backup/copy should I run on a regular basis (weekly ?) to give me that capability?

When browsing my newsfeed, every 4th item is "People You May Know".
Is there any way to stop this crap?
That's a question a Communist government would ask when deciding who is going to get what under their regime. In the American free capitalist system, citizens acquire things by satisfying 2 conditions....the want for something and the ability to pay for it. If you want 10 cars and you can pay for it....it's yours.

re: Computer randomly restarts

It sounds like the new drive is putting on an additional strain on an old power supply and your system settings is set to restart on system failure....so it appears to be restarting randomly. This happen to me. I put in a new 750 watt PS and all problems went away.
Hope this helps......
I just got a Sony Bravia 55" smart tv and I would like to view vacation photos and listen to my music that reside on my home computer . I woul imagine I would need a media server of some sort that the tv would recognize.
What would be the simplest way to accomplish this? The tv has a wifi connection to my home network that uses a Netgear Nighthawk router.
Thanks

Boat usually comes in around 11:00 AM. The crabs will be in a big open box and you will pick them out yourself with tongs.
