Clapp benched?

Also, Campbell will start at RG before Ingram at this time

I think clapp will be there for the opening.

I don't thing O is leaving any injury to chance in these scrimmages. After Fournette that is likely the new policy.

What usually determines if you're playing LG or RG? What are the differences between the 2?

I'm not an expert but isn't the RG more of a road grader? Someone who's good in run protection...LG would be someone who's a bit more agile in pass protect against the QB's blind side.

Left guards pull a lot more too, they often times more agile

That's how it has been in the past. Especially at LSU. The RG is bigger and more of a mauler. Like last year Boutte played RG.

If you want a road grader its Campbell, but I will tell you he is pretty damn mobile considering his size with good feet.

Yea would think Campbell would be your right guard in this scenario without Clapp.

My question is if Magee is practicing and ready to contribute now that the legal stuff is done?

Most guards are interchangeable between left and right. Really just comes down to who is more comfortable where.

The left or right tackles are the ones who protect the qb's blind side

I would say anybody blocking on the left side (right hand thrower) or right side (left hand thrower), is theoretically protecting his blindside.
Yes the left tackle is "known" for protecting the blindside, but if a left guard blows an adightnment, guess who's about to get drilled in the back?

That's what I'm hearing too. That he will probably end up being the starter when he is back healthy. He's just hurt right now and being held out of practices, and that Lloyd Cushenberry would probably end up being the backup for both center and right guard.

It appears that Cushenberry is ahead of him. Campbell missed a good bit of spring recovering from shoulder surgery. Now he has had another small set back.

What would that be?

They haven't said it exactly what it is but he has missed some time. I know some of his people I will ask if they have talked to him.

Campbell is the starter for now. It is his job to lose.
Staff is trying to avoid cushenberry playing RG and keeping him as backup center.
