This could transform the LSU program immediately and propel them into the post season conversation.

Why would Stansbury leave WKU for a lateral move?

VCU probably doesn't want Stansbury either

I think the only reason people thought we had a chance at those two was if Stansbury came here, no?

That's not a lateral move

They're following Stansbury if he leaves. They tried to decommit the day the story came out that he wanted the LSU job. Where he goes they go.

I don't think the rules allow the player to follow the coach to his new school. Its to allow the player some freedom to leave but prevents a package deal at the coach's new stop.

Happens in football all the time dunno about hoops but the coach is the one who grants releases so I'm sure it's the same.

It's very lateral...

WKU is very capable of doing what VCU has recently

At the very least, you need to add "Hypothetical: " to the title of this thread.

I believe it is automatic when the coach leaves, the recruits just have to request a release.

If they have to request it, it's not automatic.

VCU is in a conference with better basketball tradition.

VCU has gone young coach with every opening over the last decade or more. I doubt Stansbury is even on their radar. I wouldn't be surprised to see them go back to the Tennessee Chattanooga well and hire Matt McCall.
