For one, we had Pokey Chapman who was a very successful coach at LSU and like Staley a black woman. Now Staley and Nikki may have had a very friendly relationship where as she and Mulkey haven't. And that happens against competitors especially those that give you trouble. I'm saying all of this to say that LSU gave Nikki 10 years. More than enough time to get this program back to prominence. She just didn't do it. And that's on her and no one else

You are under the impression race baiters care about facts. That’s so cute.

you know fargas overstayed her welcome and it was time for someone new in to coach.. i tried to support fargas but she couldn’t recruit. she let great talent leave the state and it was time for a change..

I bet you every other coach in the SEC wishes Fargas was still our coach…it’s called fear.

If we truly cared about ending racism in this country, we’d have some honest discussions about comments like this. Had the roles been reversed, Mulkey was be labeled a racist and might even be fired. I don’t know if Staley is calling the LSU administration racist or the LSU fans racist. But the race card was played.

I’m so damn tired of the double standards in this country. It’s 2022, not 1862 or even 1962. If you can’t succeed living in this country, it’s because you’re not trying.

You should never speak of things you know little or nothing about Dawn...and this is obviously one of them.

Mulkey demands and works to build this type of support. I liked Fargas but she did nothing of the kind to earn what Staley is talking about.

I wonder what Layne would think about these comments.

Yeah she’s definitely feeling threatened and she should. Kim is going to kick her arse for years to come and she knows it.

She is right you know. ??

No she isn't. Fargas had 10 years to do something...anything, and couldn't. The talent on the team tanked because she didn't recruit.

Meanwhile, we fired another coach, who was relatively popular among fans, two years after winning a championship. Both were deserved, but Fargas got WAY more time to fix it. Too much time, IMO.

shite like this pisses me off as a black man. Race doesnt have shite to do with the support coach Mulkey is getting.

Why the frick would Staley make a statement like this? This statement had strong racial undertones. Coach Fargas had way more than enough time to do something at LSU (10 years) and didnt. She had a lot of support in the early years but didnt do anything to keep the support by not winning. Pokey had 10,000 plus fans in the PMAC on the regular so race doesnt have nothing to do with support.

Staley used this statement to negatively recruit against LSU because she sees Kim Mulkey as a threat. I just wish people (black and white) stop bringing race and politics into everything.

It has its undertones. This is a recruiting tactic by Staley.

What Dawn really wanted to say was “Fargas didn’t get enough support because she was black” Dawn Staley is a clown.
exactly, why not call out the black community for not coming out and “ supporting “ Fargas? If it was a terrible white coach with a bad team, wouldn’t be any fans in the P-Mac

Yep. And don't mention the fact that the PMAC filled up regularly for Pokey Chatman's teams. Fans will support a winner.

Not really. People here want it to be true. But mulkey and her not being friends and Fargas and her being friends isnt a racist thing unless you want it to be. She is way wrong in her take, but i think that says more about her taking up for her friend Nikki

Absolutely, dbeaux. Can’t imagine how some in here don’t understand the racist connection she was trying to draw here unless they’re being intentionally obtuse
