I decided I would get pertinent information on the different fields and post them before each upcoming SEC series. Not sure if this interests anyone but if someone is curious this should be an easy way to find the info here.

Taylor field

Foul Lines: 340 ft.
Power Alleys: 375 ft.
Center: 400 ft.
Height of Fence: 9 ft.

Astroturf infield
Astroturf outfield

ETA: I have it on good authority( thank you ProjectP2294) that the field is all artificial. There is conflicting info on the Mizzou website.

Alex Box

Foul Lines: 330 ft.
Power Alleys: 365 ft.

Center: 405 ft.
Height of Fence: 10 ft.
Center Field Fence Height: 15 ft.
Height of Batters’ Eye: 30 ft

Natural grass infield
Natural grass outfield

I think the difference in fence height makes the two fields play relatively the same in terms of home run balls down the lines and the Box probably plays longer as you move toward center field and the fence switches to 15 feet around the power alleys and plays considerably longer to dead center at 405 plus a 15ft fence. That is just my take.

ETA: I frequently make mistakes, the curse of being an old man

If you see any, please alert me, sarcasm and snarkiness are expected and appreciated

They have turf everything, even batters boxes.

They have conflicting info on their website. They list the following on their field description Kentucky Bluegrass (OF) and Baby Bermuda (IF) but I double-checked after you posted and found they also have an article from 2018 talking about a new AstroTurf field. Have you been their or watched a game from there, because I have not. I appreciate the feed back.

Yeah. I've watched LSU and Tennessee play Mizzou there.

It's always cold and windy in their park.

I too choose to believe this is the start of the baseball season. LSU going undefeated!

Taylor is one of the coldest places I’ve ever sat to watch a game. And it doesn’t matter what time of year, the cold and wind always seems to be in play.

All turf, and a pretty crappy stadium overall.

Wind blowing out will help LSU have a gorilla ball weekend.

Man I’d love a sweep of Mizzou but really hope we take 2 of 3.

At least LSU didn’t open SEC play at Mizzou. That would have really been cold & windy.
