Gausman may make the show before seasons end. Kid is a fricking stud. His warm up/crow-hop pitch had to hit like 105 a few times. I think he may win a Cy Young before its all said and done.... His career that is

Might be tough if they are a playoff team again though. But teams always need pitching, that's for sure.

Is LeMahieu a starter this year? Or still playing a backup role? Glad you posted about him bc thats who i was wondering about. I attended a bunch of games last year at Coors Field an saw him play multiple times in reserve. One of my favorite LSU players. I just remember him being clutch every time he came up to bat at LSU..hope he becomes a starter for years to come.

Looks like he is in a battle for the starting spot.

Although LeMahieu, 24, was the Rockies' starting second baseman for the final two months of the 2012 season, he isn't guaranteed that job in 2013. Rather, rookie Josh Rutledge is penciled in as the starter.

And yes he was one of my favorites as well. He was not only great at the plate (and really clutch), but his fielding always impressed me.

I actually just saw something else about Schimpf:

quote:

Ryan Schimpf: Ryan just missed being on our top 40 prospect list. He started last season in Dunedin, hitting .263/.353/.479 in 96 games, got moved up to New Hampshire and hit even better there, .279/.412/.568 with 8 home runs in just 33 games. A second baseman with a little pop and gets on base, really he sounds like someone that should have made our list. He'll be 25 in early April, so he was a little old for Dunedin last year. Another lefty batter, he'll likely start at Double-A this year, but maybe could get a utility infield job in the next couple of years.

and...

On Schimpf facing Gausman in Gausman's spring training debut:

His outing wasn't without its flaws, of course. After walking Thole and inducing a flyout to right field, Gausman served up a double to Ryan Schimpf -- a former Louisiana State University player like Gausman -- immediately followed by an RBI sacrifice fly to center field by Kevin Ahrens, a Minor League third baseman.

im guessing second base is the left field of the infield and there are a million players at the position.

Not really, actually. There are teams that would probably kill to be in the position the Rockies are in. I am a Nats fan, and they are lucky to have a quality fielder in Danny Espinosa (though he can't hit for shite), and a utility guy like Steve Lombardozzi, but many teams have a constant struggle to find a decent 2nd baseman, much less a back up.

From day #1 I said Ott was overrated. Not impressed same went with Ranaudo and his 85 mph heat.

Hanover is in Short A in the Tigers system. Haven't heard anything on him, but here were his stats.
