I don't agree with the .240 number, but I'm not going to argue with him about his improvement because I haven't been able to watch Milazzo hit since the end of last year. I was more so speaking in general to everyone who, like me, hasn't been to a single fall or spring scrimmage, but pretend to know exactly how each player currently looks.

I’ll be at my first spring scrimmages this weekend. Plan to take my son Saturday. Friday is a maybe. Depends on when I get back in town from work.

Ill take that every game

I guess so. He's be an All-American if he did that every game. I would be surprised if he hit over 210 for the year. I'm still okay with that. His defense is superb.

It’s hard to look really good hitting .133.

Most of us are going by stats and what’s Johnson’s is saying. And that all kinda favors Neal.

He’s hit .179 between both sessions this offseason. Saying he improved because he doesn’t strike out as much or his bunts have been better executed is kind of nutty.

I always liked the reasoning behind the "no RBI when a runner scores from third if there's no outs and you hit into a double play rule" which is that the defense is essentially indifferent to the run scoring if they choose to go for the double play.

eta: Thank you for compiling these stats, BayTiger.

Everything favors Neal except the Ks. No one has argued differently.

I get that, and I'm not saying that Milazzo is going to be some dynamic hitter. But if he works a 6 pitch at bat then lines out to left field, I'm not going to necessarily complain just because it says 0-1 next to it.

Either way I think the catcher situation will work itself out. Milazzo will probably start the majority of games at the beginning of the year with Neal getting significant PT. If Neal outshines Milazzo and proves he can handle SEC play then he'll take over and Milazzo will likely come in as a defensive substitution.

I don’t think most people would believe he could hit 0.180 vs our staff. If he hits that well (relative term so relax) vs what we will throw out there this year, I honestly don’t feel that bad about his chances at 240 considering who he will get to play against the first 25 games.

Ell, stop by and visit for a minute before the scrimmage starts. First row behind the first base dugout, section BC.
We can talk about our new selves.

I thought some people were saying that Floyd had developed a 2&3rd pitch. I guess after reading this that whoever was saying that had no clue what they were talking about lol.

So is Floyd still just a fastball machine?

Floyd’s best pitches will always be his fastballs. They are that good. But he does have offspeed now that he can throw for strikes and he’s gaining confidence. No one made that up.

Money started strong and then had that incident where he left a game early holding his pitching arm really still and awkwardly. He's never really been the same since.

When he slipped. He was never the same after that one awkward fall.

If you are in the lineup you have a role. He is a complete zero at the plate. He bunts because he is no threat to do something, otherwise. That is not valuable

He was just never that good. He had a handful of solid starts against weaker competition. Nothing against him, but he's not anywhere close to a Friday night starter.

The fact that he ever started on Friday last year tells you exactly where our pitching staff was. Despite that, they still managed to pitch half arse decent.

Not trying to knock Money, but he just isn't an SEC starter. Hellmers fits into the same category.
