Well I dont and have never heard anyone yell Tigers instead of Brave at the end of the anthem, But I have always said "Go to Hell Ole Miss Go to Hell" like it is a missing ending line. I even whisper it everytime I hear the anthem.

Its disrespectful and stupid.
Imagine if Lolo won gold and replaced brave with tigers during the medal ceremony. It would not look good.

Never heard of this and I would never do it. Disrespectful to say the least.

So you obviously have never been to a game in tiger stadium.

? You wouldn't write "geaux tigers" on the flag would you? That's how I feel.
You mean something like this?

i wonder if military find a problem with it since it takes out the word "brave". like it means we appreciate our tigers more than we appreciate the people that fought for our freedom.
I'm "that guy" - the guy who made my kids stand when the anthem played on television for the Super Bowl or Olympic medal ceremonies. I'm a 24 year member of the United States military, having received my commission from LSU.
I always say, "TIGERS!" at the game, but I've never been in uniform (ROTC t-shirt doesn't count) at a game, either.
(The whole song is an account of a battle - it is not like changing 1 word alters that, all that much.)

as a descendant of a native american, I find the term "brave" offensive and therefore have no problem saying Tigers.

I'm a vet and yell TIGERS every damn home game. Deal.

Anyone who says they have never heard it clearly has never attended a game in tiger stadium. How is it disrespectful? Most military people don't find it disrespectful, I have a few friends in ROTC that yell it even.

There are, however, flags that resemble the American flag in terms of design but are purple and gold, no? That is another issue I could see both sides on.

Completely different circumstances. Yell TIGERS at a LSU football game is acceptable, but outside of that environment probably not.

My first game was in 1971, was a student in the '80's, and make a couple of games both home and away each year. Never noticed this so sue me.

Define hypocrite - someone getting pissed because another person uses their freedom of speech to alter the national anthem of a country that deploys soldiers to fight to protect our freedom of speech as well as other freedoms. Hmmm.
Obviously using tigers instead of brave is trivial at best. however America is the home of the brave and also the home of our tigers. Don't take life so seriously guys.

Umm, a miltary unit that fought against the country whose national anthem you're singing. Personally, I don't really care, I don't necessarily find it distasteful, but this is a stupid reason.

Theres no way not to notice it. Its a huge roar from the crowd saying "TIGERS". Thats like not noticing "Callin Baton Rouge" playing throughout the stadium pregame

Not a fan of it. It's the national anthem, not the Tiger Stadium or Alex Box Stadium anthem. Yes, it is disrespectful, and any officer or ROTC member doing this should be ashamed...maybe not as ashamed as that chick working the drive-thru window at Chick-Fil-A (sarcasm).
Yeah, I'm sure other schools do it, but they're wrong as well. I understand wanting to put our stamp on things, and while it doesn't rise to the same level, this for me falls within the same confines as changing the lyrics to Tiger Rag to say "a**hole" and the stupid offensive line that some love to sing during "Neck."
Yes, we as Tigers are brave, but that doesn't mean we should get to change the word in our nation's national anthem for it. We've got "Hey, Fightin' Tigers," "Fight for LSU," and other songs to promote ourselves as LSU. The national anthem should be used as a moment of unity with our opponents before we kick the crap out of them.
