I mean, I know we had some penalties for kickoffs that went OOB, but I also know we had plenty of kicks that were downed before the 25, which is where almost every kickof possession has started for our opponents this season.

I’d be very curious to see how many yards we’ve gained to see the actual benefit.

I've looked at it before, and I'm not really looking to again, but as I recall the overall strategy of kicking high and inside the 5 generally worked out. More often than not a tackle was made before the 25 yard line.

Giles is the Jordan Jefferson of 2018...must have some incriminating evidence on O. Speaking of criminal, it’s criminal that he plays a single snap on offense or special teams. And don’t even get me started on him wearing number 7 to start the season.

It's right on par with the offense.

The ONLY bad part of our special teams is the returns.

Everything else has been amazingly good.

Member when we couldn’t kick it out of or even into the end zone?

Totally agree...what would this season look like without Cole Tracy...

To me, special teams has been extremely solid.

Return game has lacked returns, but also seems very consistent, no muffs or turnovers that I can recall.

Kickoff and punt coverage has also been good, nothing big allowed.

Punter hasn't shanked anything, kickoffs are almost always touchbacks, FGs have been money.

Big returns are a bonus, but for function, I'd say special teams play is similar to a cornerback: if you don't ever notice them, that means nothing bad is happening and they are doing their jobs.

As long as he catches it I'm good, one thing for certain you know he isn't going to return it. Now he may let it go over his head to be killed at the 5....but still LOL!!

Right that’s what I would think as well.

So all of the praise about the kickoffs probably amount to a couple of yards difference in field position at best, and could even have us in slightly worse position.

Not a big deal either way but the praise for this staff regarding kickoffs is kind of funny when you really look at it.

Same as the offense. Well it looks a little prettier imo so I’m going to just say it’s better. Even if it isn’t

ETA: HOLY shite THIS THREAD IS ANCHORED!!! WTF?????

I’m guessing that means the numbers would actually be worse
