I just understand the intention behind it when apparently the vast majority of the people in this thread do not. It’s not a very hard concept.

You get out of the double play AND you are assuring yourself of getting to the top of the order while taking a chance with Hughes. Reid hasn't been hitting well either.
I hate bunting, but I realize what the strategy was with 2 hitters coming up that are struggling and 2 hitters after that that are hot.

He literally proved he couldn’t at the last at bat. Just putting the ball far enough to force an OF to field it gives LSU a chance to pressure a bad USM defense into making a throw to home plate. He popped up into the infield. He has zero business being in this game.
