I wonder if that's going to be a theme this year. Ben was saying the other day that he didn't expect us to run much this year with all the power on the team.

I don’t think it’ll be what it was in the Cannizzaro years as far as stealing bases. I think it’s going to manifest more in taking risks to stretch that single into a double. We’re focusing hard on OPS right now and in order for that to work you have to have extra base hits. So you’re going to see guys like Cabrera, Mathis, Dugas and Hampton pressuring the outfielders and testing their arms.

But when guys like Cabrera, Hampton or Gio find themselves on first I think you see them attempt to swipe one pretty often.

That’s all I wanted to say

Not just that, but the approaches all around seem to be night and day, compared to last season. We seem to be going up with a plan, hitting balls the opposite way when needed. Last season when we faced midweek teams who threw out 82-85 mph pitchers we didn't know what the hell to do with them. That seems to have changed as well.

I’d like to point out that outside of that second inning the defense has looked perfectly fine and I’d argue that this is our best offensive lineup.

This could become a thing.

Crazy what can happen when you actually hire and pay someone to do a job as opposed to just calling up old players and asking if they can hang out with the team in between madden seasons

Agreed and I think that's the point Ben was making.

7 straight balls after going 0-2, then 3 straight strikes

Remove Milazzo and add Travinski in the DH spot and then yes. Possibly Gio in CF against righties, if it takes Hampton a bit longer to get going.

Come the middle of SEC play, I think this has as good a chance of any as being our starting lineup though.
