Stingley is soft…Anytime you have the Dad making as many press releases as he has it’s not a good thing for the program! Time to cut bait!

I just flat out disagree with this. You can't tell me the best cornerback in college football isn't an impact player

Stingley in 2020 7 GP, 27 tackles, 2.5 tackles for losses, 0 int, 1 fumble recovery, 1 forced fumble, 5 passes broken up, 5 defended
Stingley in 2021 3 GP, 8 tackles, 2.5 TFL, 0 passes int, broken up or defended. 1 forced fumble.

How much did he impact the games? Not a lot. Sure you can throw elsewhere but that’s the point, you can easily take him out if the game whereas a player like Mathieu, Dorsey, or a Brooks you can not.

His hype was so substantial that he never had a chance to play up to it, and his performance will never get there, based on what he has done when faced with guys that will also play on Sundays

And I know that sounds like a cheap shot, but his best games have definitely been against weaker competition. Even the Georgia SECCG didn't include GA's best receivers

All were injured before or during that game. He is still going to have a pretty good NFL career IMO.

I don't really agree.

Stingley was beaten consistently by only two players over his career at LSU. The first was Kyle Pitts (before he was really known) when Stingley was a freshman.

The second was Devonte Smith who I think could still be scoring TDs against Stingley if he wanted to.

Both those guys are absolute studs.

The kid has a serious injury, he’s not faking shite or trying to opt out. This type of injury can jeopardize his future in the NFL if he doesn’t get it fixed

I'm certain that you don't know that this is true. If it were true, he obviously needs to have surgery.

Stingley won’t see the field the rest of the year.

This is likely true regardless of whether your initial statement is true.

Look, I'm a big Honey Badger fan, but lets face facts: He always had other great players with him at LSU. He played two years at LSU, and both of those years some other LSU player won the Thorpe Award for nation's best defensive back (Patrick Peterson in 2010, Morris Claiborne in 2011). Mathieu was free to do a lot of disrupting with those types back there.

if you’re going to trash the best player on our defense, at least get it right.

Stingley got beat by 5th year senior transfer WR Van Jefferson as a true freshman. He also had an interception in the end zone during that same game.

I am just saying Stingley has not dominated. I’m not saying he’s not elite, it’s just the position he plays doesn’t allow him a lot of freedom or chances because the O can ignore him.

Trash him? Are you retarded. I was defending him by pointing out the only two guys that got the better of him were absolute studs.

And while Van Jefferson scored a TD, it was Pitts that caught several passes in a row on Stingley. Of course, we all know Stingley had a huge play at the end of that game.

It's hilarious how some fans need to pretend things didn't happen in order to convince themselves that a player is good.

I've got news for you. Pitts and Smith dogged on a lot of great players.

I heard that if we beat Auburn, his foot might begin its magical healing process. He may have stained some ligament that runs to his HEART. Good news though. It heals more and more with every win.

It would be nice to get him back for UF, but it’s an absolute necessity against that OM passing attack.

You’re proving my point. His stats will never jump off the page because lockdown corners don’t often get thrown at. Tyrann Matthieu was able to be tyrann mathieu BECAUSE pat Pete, mo Claiborne, and tharold Simon we’re able to lock down guys on the outside.

quote:

Sure you can throw elsewhere but that’s the point, you can easily take him out if the game

But that’s the point. “Taking sting out of the game” Takes away half of the field and affects their gameplan. I think we’ve been spoiled for so long with such good corners that our fans take them for granted.

Think about the 2019 team. We never faced a team with half as good corners as sting and Fulton. Because of that, we took TONS of deep shots down the sideline. Think about how often you saw teams beat us down the numbers on deep balls in 16, 18, 19, and 20/21 when we’ve had stingley and ricks. Those years we had NFL corners on both sides and it just didn’t happen. You’re essentially taking away a teams easiest way to get big plays.

I hope I’m not coming off as an a-hole, I just think corners like stingley are so, so invaluable to a defense and their impact cannot be understated. They’ve shaped how LSU plays defense the last 20 years. You don’t get the Brookes, the mathieus, the Devin whites, the laron Landry hits, the ability to bring 5 and 6 guys on an obvious passing down, without having your PP7, tre white, mo Claiborne, kris Fulton, greedy, or stingleys

Hell, my son is a senior at LSU and last week his a/c wasn’t working so he texted me to see if he should leave the door to his room open when he leaves.

Pretty sure he’d ask and follow my advice on career defining multi-million dollar decisions.

His dad only has Benjamin's on his mind. He reminds me of LaVar Ball.

Y'all are fricking crazy.

His dad went off the rails on Jordy's show. And, he absolutely showed he was unable to handle criticism. Hell, he probably had never heard it in relation to his kid before. They've had their arse kissed forever.

But, I think he's a good Dad who loves his kid. He's only trying to take care of his son, even if he fricks that up from time to time.
