Name another coach that could sustain the amount of winning/competitiveness at Ole Miss and have them in the top half of the SEC?

Franklin made it to the cfp, perhaps LSU should hire him since that’s one of your prerequisites.

Maybe the guy that’s at Boise?

No, but past success is an indicator of future success.

Well in all of college football history there have been 2 coaches who’ve won Nattys at different programs so while your logic is sound in a general way there appear to be other factors in CFB that supersede it.

Here are Kiffins seasons at Ole Miss vs the same seasons at LSU along with where they finished ranked at the end of the season (the rankings are according to the AP Poll that made a final rankings after the bowl games/playoffs):
Ole Miss from 2020 through 2025
2020 - 5-5 - unranked
2021 - 10-3 - #11
2022 - 8-5 - unranked
2023 - 11-2 - #9
2024 - 10-3 - #11
2025 - 6-1 - #8
LSU from 2020-2025
2020 - 5-5 - unranked
2021 - 6-7 - unranked
2022 - 10-4 - #16
2023 - 10-3 - #12
2024 - 9-4 - unranked
2025 - 5-2 - #20

So, since Kiffin has been at Ole Miss, they are 50-17 and have ended the season ranked in the top 12 in 3 out of 5 seasons. If we had this same playoff format, they would have made the playoffs in 2 of 5 seasons. They finished top 11 last year but didn't make the playoffs as they were ranked #14, when the final pole came out to decide who would go to the playoffs, and were one of the last teams out. In that same time frame, LSU has gone 45-25 and have finished ranked 2 out of 5 seasons and wouldn't have made the playoffs in the current format one time! He is an elite recruiter and play caller and is having this much success at a school that is no where near as well-funded or having the in-state talent as Louisiana has compared to Mississippi, which is not bad but not near what Louisiana has produced. To think that a coach as good as Kiffin would have success at LSU when he has had as much success as he has had at Ole Miss isn't that hard to understand.

Any big name coach if he gets the support they've given Kiffin money wise. Again, another person who still thinks this is Ole Miss from 10 years ago like it's the same thing in NIL era.

Newsflash: It's not. Which is why teams like Ole Miss and Vanderbilt can compete now.

Kiffin is a young BK. Hes always good for a bone headed loss or 3 a season.

Stop with the maxed out Ole Miss crap, there is no longer some mythical level that any SEC team can achieve because of NIL.

Last season they were touted as the top portal team who went all in to win it and guess what thry loss 3 games.

Kiffin aint winning shite just like Kelly isnt winning g shite.

He shouldn’t be. Lane Kiffin is incredible at marketing himself / standing out.

People have feared that guy for no reason, they think he’s some kind of genius, I remember Bama fans posting they were worried he would go to LSU back in 2018 when he had accomplished basically nothing except a 10 win season at FAU.

He’s a good coach, just not amazing.

I do not know what the obsession with that guy is. His teams are always hyped up and all he does is make a super cool bowl game, every fricking year.

BK came to a dumpster fire and went 9-3 in his first season, and accomplished more in that season than Kiffin has in 5 going on 6 SEC seasons. Kiffin’s first 2 seasons in the SEC sucked. “Get your popcorn ready” then getting smoked is the PERFECT way to sum up his career.

The rants expectations for a hire are:

1- previous NC winning coach
2- under 50 years old
3- will come on a 4 year contract
4- will accept 4 million per year
5- no buy out

All 5 criteria MUST be met.

Make no mistake, LK has done well at Ole Miss. In the last 50 years, OM has had (4) 10+ win seasons, and LK has 3 of them. Cutcliffe won 10 with Eli Manning in 2003. By contrast, LSU has had (16) 10+ win seasons, 11 in the last 25 years, including 2 by BK.

Now, Ole Miss may have been LSU's rival in the 50s and 60s, during which time LSU won the NC in 1958 and OM won it all in 1959, 1960, and 1962. However, besides a tie with LSU for the SEC western division title in '03 (see above), OM has not won the division or SEC title since 1963.

LSU has 12 SEC titles, last in 2019.

LK has made OM consistently relevant for the first time in 60 years, but OM will NEVER be comparable to LSU as a football program and powerhouse...

We would have a top offense and good QB play every year with Lane. I also like my HC to be directly involved and calling plays like Lane does

All he would need to do is make good defensive hires and we would be contenders every year. And it’s much easier to get a top DC to LSU than it is OM

He has Ole Miss in a better position than LSU with limited resources
Lane had a top 5 team last year based on talent, experience, and draft picks, and still went 9-3. Same with this Jon Gruden crap. Dude is a career NFL coach that left coaching for 9 years, came back and had 2 of 3 losing seasons with the raiders and an 8-8 season (right after him the interim took that team to the playoffs, something he couldn't do).

So many of yall are delusional about Kiffin and I'm just throwing the Gruden crap in as a bonus.
