re: Soon, Alex Box will be a mid-tier SEC baseball stadium

A&M's stadium is inferior to The Box in every way.
The only SEC park that is clearly superior is State's.
We need to lift the roof and build a deck over the press box. Then extend the roof down the baselines to the fences. Redo baseline sections to be just like under the roof is now. With the new upper deck, you can eliminate all the outfield bleachers and build new enclosed bullpens there.

ell: I have attended multiple series at Carolina, Arkansas, bama, and A&M over the years. Their facilities are good but not clearly superior to our's. But, as I said, I favor as major renovation of the Box.

I have been too. If you’re in the grandstand for every series, it’s relatively similar. Concourses, chairbacks, suites, cover. However, if you’re looking at all the options and overall experience, the Box is ugly and uncomfortable for a large portion of fans many of whom are season ticket holders. There are many “bad seats” in the Box. That’s not the case for the parks I listed.
ETA: Hell, even UGA’s stadium is decent for its size and location limitations. They let you in for free in RF too.

The bleachers Say HEEEEEYYYYY

Carolina
Has the best view looking out towards the outfield with the Columbia skyline in the background, but if you pan the camera around towards the grandstands, it's very average I find.

Not crazy about the Econo Lodge sitting out in left field though.

A&M
The most underrated stadium in the conference imo. Rarely mentioned when discussing top tier parks, but I think Blue Bell, aesthetically speaking is as fine as any in the conference.

Welcome to the club on ridiculing the box. I’ve been posted at the club since 2009, brether. It was so embarrassing see a brand new stadium take bleachers from its old stadium and rebrand the idea as “tradition”. Seriously?!?
Then the empty beams for the suites for future building... such a beautiful intro to the stadium lmao. 2009 Baum is better than 2019 Alex Box for perspective. Our dedicated fan base deserves better.
Say what you will about Alleva, but he always nailed facility projects. Would have been much smoother if he handled the project

We do in regionals and Supers

Is LSU suppose to build a new park everytime another program does? This logic is ridiculous. Especially when we have led baseball attendance for what 10 years straight.
Some of you just bitch to bitch...jeez.

Oh stop. It might be due for some upgrades but stop with the drama.

Year in and year out the box is considered one of the top venues in college baseball. Only the rant bitches about it.

LSU will upgrade the PMAC before the Box.

The sound endzone expansion was under his watch. I wouldn’t say he nailed that one.

I think it probably is. The SEC is not playing around with facility upgrades.

"Cut corners whenever they could"...this is Skip's baby and he said he spent 2 yrs traveling the country looking for ideas. If you honestly believe Skip brought over the old LF bleachers for "tradition " you have no idea what Skip really is about. He's always been about money and his control of the camp monies is legendary. In a non complimentary way.

However, we will still fill it more often than any of them will, so suck an elf

quote:Only because of the crowd size. And that has been dwindling. The stadium itself, even when it was first built, was not the best fan experience in college baseball. The things listed in the OP (bleachers and batters eye) were issues from the start.

it's time for an entire outfield concourse.
