I dislike the cartoon/soft look. While sure, it may by trendy to hate, but like nickleback, a large percentage of it is real.

Toonces just needs to go. It's not a good logo. It feels cheaply designed and is reminiscent of logo's the small schools use because they don't have much in the way of funds. For instance:

From Lafayette on, those are logos designed by Phoenix Design Works...the firm LSU used to come up with Toonces. Notice, all but LSU are cheap, small time teams. I looked through all the logos they've done and LSU is the only major school to have used them for their primary logos. Theres nothing special about the LSU logo. This firm does the same shite for every nearly every logo they make. ~The schools mascot floating above the schools name.

Just plain LSU in the geaux font would be fine with me. I don't understand why we need the floating tiger head in the logo.

Yeah I didn't get that. I guess they were considering a redesign? They had Railers, Express and other train related crap for ASU.

ETA: Just found this on wiki

I could give two shits about Nickelback but LSU runs in my blood. I know a lot of people don't care what our logo looks like (probably bandwagon fans who shop at Wal-Mart for their gear). If you do think this logo is fine, you have terrible taste. You probably own a pair of crocs with a toonces logo on it.

That LSU is God Awful and LSU deserves to have a strong logo to represent our school. We as loyal LSU fans who care about the tadition and image of LSU can't just accept this shitty logo.

We need to beat this dead horse until something is done about this. I for one will have my Louisville slugger out until toonces is killed.

KILL TOONCES! :beatdeadhorse:

LSU went cheap when they went for a new logo. The fact that almost all of the other logos that firm has done were for small schools make it painfully obvious that's what LSU did. LSU should have a classic logo like other big time schools.

Those logos are simple yet timeless. You see thouse and you know what school they represent. No stupid cartoons.

I think the eye of the tiger logo does that. Its not similar to any other logo and when people see it, they associate it with LSU.

Just having a letter is pretty stupid. The alabama A is so vanilla and unoriginal. Texas' and Arky's are also cool. I agree that we should start going with the eye of the tiger instead of fricking toonces

The original toonces is the one that was universally hated by LSU fans (this was arguably the worst logo in LSU history, including any variations with a full-body Tiger):

I think the current one is 7 billion times better than the original (most people are "okay" with this one):

I would prefer they simply used this for everything:

this has always been one of my favorite LSU logos:

And of course I love this one:

This is what i would roll with though (shrink the eye to "box it up" with LSU and I think it'd be perfect):

Needless to say, I am not a fan of animals in logos....I think logos should be simple, classic, and straight-forward....We have the rare position at LSU that we can simply use our three letters and everyone knows exactly what the logo stands for.

I like it. It does feel awkward with it turned around though.
